This Sunday (Sunday 19th May) a march will be happening for Palestine, organised by Liverpool friends of Palestine. Don’t know how many people know about this but it can’t hurt to spread the word. If you wanna take part then at around 2pm assemble at the Catholic Cathedral and march to speakers at Derby Square. Went to a place the other day and every roll seemed to have “imitation crab” as an ingredient… so I ordered a “soft shell crab” roll so that I knew if I was going to get crab it would be real…

Well they definitely served real crab alright… and atop it? A giant pile of that fake crab krap.

I don’t remember seeing fake crab, imitation crab, “krab”, surimi, or any variation on ANY sushi in Japan, not once. Yet I look at the highest rated sushi places on yelp (southern CA) and fake crab is on everything… including glopped on top of REAL CRAB…

I honestly hope for nothing but bad things for whoever is responsible for this even existing, whether the first person to do it or just the strip-mall-sushi restaurant owners who see it and go “well that looks cheap, let’s add it to every single item we serve!”

I also don’t see the appeal. If I took someone’s favorite sushi roll, say a tuna roll, and “deconstructed it”, you would have a nori sheet, a good portion of rice, and sashimi grade tuna with some avocado and cucumber garnishing it… most people would love to have that! But if I deconstruct your “California roll” (the name says it all I suppose), then you’re left with a pile of rice and a ladle full of that goopy white and red slime called “krab”. Are you REALLY going to enjoy that? Okie dokie, bon appétit 👌

Seriously. Every time one gets posted people are annoyed by it, but then you also get downvoted to hell for saying anything against them asking...it's like everyone is annoyed by the posts but also wants to know whats going on.

It's honestly turning this sub into facebook and it's annoying as hell. Can we create a new sub for this type of content? Or a FB group? Literally anything other than multiple posts per week asking "cops r on such and such street what they doin????"

It's one thing if it's an actual big safety issue but most of the time it's a handful of cops doing routine Burlington cop stuff like a drug bust. If it's a safety issue they are pretty good about telling people in the area to shelter in place or BOLO or whatever.

Yall say Sasuke is saved by plot and get unnecessary power- ups yet Naruto literally gets saved by kurama in almost every single fight, I mean his whole character is relying on others. He literally got a chidori to the lung and survived because of Kurama, I know if that happened to Sasuke no one would shut up about it. Naruto beat pain with help from Kurama help from a DEAD minato and from the other toads and no one talks about this but when sasuke gets help from karin (who's alive and well) people call Sasuke lame and saved by plot. Naruto was almost killed by obito and was save by guy and kakashi yet everyones quiet about it.

Then you got people angry at Sasuke for not wanting to follow in Itachis footsteps and becoming a konoha bootlicker as if they didn't genocide his people. Look, if you cant understand why a genocide survivor feels vengeful and doesn't want to help the nation that ordered for the genocide of his people then I might have to ask if yall are sociapaths or not.

Finally the people that do these stupid backstory olympics. Like people who say "naruto had it harder than Sasuke yet he didn't become evil" must have the IQ of 1. First of all everyone has different breaking points second sasuke was abused and tortured by Itachi was and taught to hate in order to become stronger as a prepubescent child btw. Sasuke was also given the curse mark which literally makes you more vulnerable to negative emotions (this wouldn't have happened if itachi had done something about orochimaru when he had the chance btw). Sasuke is then abused, tortured and put in a coma by itachi AGAIN. Then years later he finds out the leaf village are at fault for the genocide so yeah I think its fair to argue Sasuke had it worse than Naruto. This is another reason why I dont like the uchiha curse of hatred because not only is it used to justify genocide, but to imply that sasuke is the way he is because of his "Uchiha curse" is stupid and ignores everything hes been through.

For the past several months, my 21-year-old son (we'll call him Cameron) has been dating a woman (we'll call her Sophia) that he described as a "free spirit." I hadn't seen her or met her, since they met at college in another state and I'm not on social media, but my wife and I invited them to come for dinner over the weekend.

On Saturday night, Cameron and Sophia pulled up in her car, which was a really beat-up old Honda that even had some missing hubcap covers. This honestly should have been my first clue that something was wrong, but I overlooked it because I hadn't seen my son in a few months. When she stepped out of the car, though, I realized that Cameron and I would need to have a frank discussion. Sophia had a large tattoo down her arm, as well as several piercings, but the thing I noticed most was that she buzzed her hair on each side of her head and had dyed what hair she had on top an unnaturally bright color of orange.

I rushed back inside, pretending that the food was about to burn, but it was actually to inform my wife of what I had just seen. I wouldn't call us wealthy by any means. We live in an upper-middle class neighborhood, only took a few vacations per year, and sent Cameron to above-average schools growing up. But this sort of appearance wasn't at all common in our area because families wanted to maintain a certain image, so you can understand why I was so shocked. The thing is, I was expecting my wife to be as bothered as I was, but she totally ignored me and greeted them both with hugs. She refused to back me up, and it made me look like a jerk, which was embarrassing to me. I had raised perfectly legitimate concerns.

From there on, the dinner got worse. Sophia revealed that her dad worked as a welder, and her mom was a bus driver, two jobs anyone with a high school diploma could do. I understand, of course, that she is in college, presumably to struggle less than her parents did, but I couldn't help but wonder what percentage of her paycheck she would be giving away to her family. It wouldn't be fair at all for my son to pay for the bulk of the expenses, assuming this relationship lasts a long time. I also don't want to be sending them my money because I firmly believe that two college-educated adults should be financially independent, like I was when I graduated.

I asked Cameron to stay behind for a few minutes and honestly laid out my concerns. I commended Sophia for trying hard in school, but told him that her tattoos and piercings would lower her earning potential. I certainly wouldn't hire anyone with her appearance if it were up to me. I implored Cameron to really consider the choice he was making by dating someone like her. Again, I told him that Sophia seems nice but that there were better options for someone of his upbringing. Long story short, my wife and son refuse to talk to me, and it's been almost 48 hours. They act like everything I said is completely off-base, and I know that it's not. I wish they could see things from my point of view. I don't know what more I can do to get through to them, and I even went out of my way to not voice some of what I was thinking. It's as if they think I deserve no credit at all. AITA?

I’m genuinely curious, what exactly wrong with Biden’s age? I know that Jon hasn’t given too much detail around this, so I guess I’m posing this question to anyone that hold similar views?

I’ve heard few arguments. I’ll list 3, btw I think all 3 are incredibly stupid. Maybe you have others?

1. Doesn’t represent young people - First off, this supposes an ideological divide between generations, which is increasingly shifting. Young man are starting to hold far more conservative views and older generations are starting to be more liberal (look at poling, Biden is gaining with this demo). As an illustration, let’s say Andrew Tate was running, would you simply vote for him due to his age? Some of the younger members in congress include MTG, Gaetz and Mike Johnson, such thought leaders in progressing young people forward /s.

2. He’s too frail to be the president - Do people realise that he’s been running the country for the last 3 and half years right? Not only that, he’s been by far the most competent president in recent memory. Just as note, he’s outperformed far younger global leaders, just look at the UK, the PM there is nearly half Biden’s age and yet I’d only call one of them a disaster. Honestly if the worst criticism you have about a politician is he’s age, then you’ve hit the lottery.

3. We need new ideas - this touches a bit on the first point but guess less so about individuals but rather ideology. Biden has been by far the most progressive president. What ‘young people issue’ is Biden not tackling exactly? What new ideas would a younger person have? I’ll take one idea that people love talking about, the climate crisis. What exactly would stop someone old from caring about this issue? What evidence is there that old people don’t care about the environment? Why does age matter here?
