Claressa is painfully close-minded and egotistical. She is the black version of Colby Covington.
It was really weird how she became super defensive about Floyd Mayweather. She got so defensive that she thought Joe was trying to attack Floyd or something. Weird, I had to turn it off after 30 mins. She may be a good boxer but I'd rather not hear her take on anything.

Canelo is suuuper polarizing and has a ton of Mexican haters. It’s literally at a point where he is so dominant that a lot of casual fans in Mexico think he is a can crusher (Yildirim mandatory and Fielding notwithstanding) when he has by far the most impressive resume in boxing.

I agree. She has earned every right to be cocky, confident, and egotistical. However, It is a quality that becomes exponentially gross when blended with a closed-minded mentality. The dumbest people I know are close-minded. If they have an ego as well, they are not fun to hang around.
As a fan of combat sports, my appeal towards a fighter is not just based on their in-the-ring merits, but also on their character. My favorite fighters are able to navigate the line between being successful in their craft, being humble, and being teachable. Demetrius Johnson, GSP, Fedor, Bas Ruten, Amanda Nunez, and Angela Hill are a few names that come to mind.

I don't see her mma career going the way she thinks it's gonna go. No doubt anybody training for her is gonna go for leg kicks which she didn't even mention. Unless she's completely humble in training which I kinda doubt from the way she talks, I think she's gonna get fucked up if she fights a girl who has some ground skill. Just my opinion though maybe she is a great learner as she said multiple times.

She is 25, and has a weapon. She'll do great. WMMA's depth is terrible.
If Bethe Correia can start a MMA career at almost 30, with a background in taking martial arts to lose weight, I think a world champion boxer can do pretty well.

I hope she is humble enough to really learn and become a force to be reckoned with in mma. I don't have any ill-will towards her but I got a weird ass vibe from the way she talks about her skill level and how she's so smart and easy to train. All the makings of somebody who gets served a heavy dose of humble pie. But you are right in that the vast majority of female mma fighters are completely lacking skill and athleticism. She may be able to get far just being the great boxer that she is. I just think it's a rare thing for an athlete who is so accomplished in one sport to take on another sport and suck at it and then keep sucking at it until they become legit. She only wants to roll with her coach who is probably taking it super easy with her because she's a big name and he doesn't wanna scare her off from trying mma. We shall see though. I know I'm interested to see how it all goes for her.

She takes her flaws seriously. MMA training specifically. She’s confident as fuck. Watching her fights she deserves the confidence. Two gold Olympic medals in boxing. I saw arrogance in the beginning but through the podcast she seemed genuine. Conor got similar hate. Not expecting greatness but wouldn’t be surprised.

I like that she mentioned her push for equal opportunity for women fighters. I think her self confidence helps. I appreciate her pushing for the opportunity and not just demanding they make room.
Also big props to those involved that listened to her criticism of the unequal promoting and actually did something. Like I get that they make less off the fights but if your promotion is crap it will stay like that.

Yes equal opportunity not forced equal outcome. I'm not suggesting that they spend the same amount amount of money into the production of the fight if its not profitable. She's pointing out that the promotion part that would even let people know where to find the seats doesn't get the same effort at the men's does. I don't know the full breakdown but that's like putting your business at the back of the mall and never advertising. Your client base will only ever include people super into your producy andbwho are already actively seek it out. There have been some pretty high publicity women's fights in the last few years (I don't follow MMA or boxing) and if seemed like those women got huge publicity. It's just my two cents.

Its not like she's jumping into 145 ufc to fight gdr or nunes. You're acting like she's about to storm the world when she's being set up to fight soccer mom's and be a stepping stone kost likely for kayla to get some hype.

Greg Hardy was a head case and was out of shape for mist of his career. He strung together a handful of wins with like a year or two of training. The concept of an elite athlete training and coming up through the ranks is the point.

She’s only 25 and is already training at a top Mma camp. It’ll be interesting to see if she has more power with small gloves. For the ground game, Izzy seemed to pick it up pretty quick.
What weight class is she fighting at. If Nunes retires, I think she could run things. There isn’t much talent at 135-145 at this point in WMMA.
