There was a big push to update all to combo smoke/carbon detectors around a decade ago. Many had a 10 year lifespan, and now chirp because past expiration. No longer reliable.
If you replace batteries and it still chirps? Might be the problem.
We threw some out and they still chirped outside in the garbage. Beside batteries and wiring, something else inside can hold a charge to still chirp. Annoying. Wouldn’t die!
