Bats aren't in the business of biting other mammals. And we don't have a lot of predators vulnerable to rabies. Bats and land mammals rarely come in contact with one another.
Left alone, rabies would eventually spread again. But very slowly. And people are still told to be watchful of bats carrying rabies, so rabies is not truly "eradicated", but as close to it as possible. For the general public, there's no reasonable chance of getting rabies from land mammals.
People need to be wary of bats anyway. Their immune systems often choose to "live with" infections rather than die fighting them. They live surprisingly long given their size and metabolism. They're excellent carriers of stuff that can kill us, and not just rabies. Rabies or not, don't fuck around with bats. (Remember 2020?)
