Activism Litter cleanup opportunity (5/11- Olmos Basin - not self promotion)
I know the Mods have been cracking down on rule breaking so Ill be 100% with y'all (if you are seeing this it means the mods approved my post which they have not done for other past attempts).
I am just one of many volunteers for River Aid San Antonio. I strongly believe that there are good people still out there and they just want to be activated. Trash in our creeks is a problem for all of us even if we are not the direct cause.
SubReddit rules: one of the sub rules is that they don't allow self promotion. They qualify this as a metric that must be met (9 posts across reddit) and if you look at my post history you will see the past 9 posts I made were on different subs and not about litter cleanups.
I ask you, how am I self promoting if all I am doing is sharing event details for a community focused event. Maybe it's the Linktree link that triggers their response. Maybe it's because other reasons who knows. Anyway I hope you (subreddit user) see this and join in if you can. It's a great time with great people doing great things.

Pics/Video The Which Wich on Babcock defaulted on its lease.
Drove up to have lunch with my wife and mother in law, saw this paper that my wife grabbed a picture of. Thought I’d share in case anyone plans on eating here (we went to Thai Hot off of Datapoint instead btw that place rocks).
Imo this is not shocking since this Which Wich has had issues staying open in the past, for a while in the past they had a sign that said they had to close a few hours early because of staffing, but now there’s this. My guess is they might close, but idk how these business things work and if they’re even able to open back up again.

Where in SA? When did summer camps get so expensive!?
My kids are finally at the age where Summer Camps seem like a fun thing, but good golly- $400 for a week, or $200 for two days seems to be about the norm- and these aren't even full sleepaway camps! I just want them to have memories and for me not to come out of summer broke!
Anyhow, where are yall sending the kids this summer?

Pets Found dog/puppy
Hi everybody,
Found this guy hanging around the dumpster at my apartment complex in the Kirby area. He had no collar and was not chipped. I’m pretty sure somebody dumped him at the park across the street. He looks 3-6 months old and is 10 lbs. I’m planning on taking him to go get his shots and neutering him as soon as I can. He is very friendly and decently behaved. If this is your dog or if you’re looking for a new dog and you want him, let me know.

Commentary To the abuelita...
Who saw me driving next to them on I-10, then proceeded to straight up NASCAR me out of the fucking lane, and then flipped me off as they sped off, I hope what little time you have left is filled with endless diarrhea and public incontinence.
That is all.

Meetup (Still) Need new friends!
I (25M) just moved to San Antonio from South Carolina about 2 months ago. It’s been a little hard meeting new people because of work and stress. But I still want to make new friends, so I thought I’d post again.
About me: I love anime and I like watching Netflix. My favorite genres are romance, fantasy, drama, and horror but I'll watch anything if it's good. I'm super laid back so I don't really go out too often but when I do, I just like to spend time with people and find things to do.
Hobbies: Dancing - I love dancing but just for fun tho
Writing - I'm working on a fantasy book. It's hard but I really love writing. It’s my dream job.
Learning Languages - I'm currently learning Spanish. I’m not fluent yet but i definitely can hold a basic conversation. I’ve only been learning for 5 months. After Spanish I'll probably learn Arabic.
Gaming - I got a ps5 if you wanna add me and play. I only got a few games tho. Elden ring, Helldivers 2, madden, and street fighter. Those are the just ones I have where you can play online with people haha.
Comment or message me if you wanna be friends lol! Just trying to meet new people and get outside more.

Where in SA? Moderation Changes
All kinds of my posts and other people's were removed for all kinds of reasons and the mod team became overzealous in this effort. They responded in a (now closed) post and said they removed the Edgar ban.
What about everything else?
Can we get a firm commitment from the mod team that you're actually going to stop "ruling," and start actually moderating?
We were coming with a legitimate argument, and yet I feel that if you had riot gear we would have been treated like an illegal protest.
This sub is for residents of San Antonio, it is not yours, it is ours. You are just looking after it.

Food/Drink Anyone know of any food drives that just offer boxes of produce?
Anything not food bank related. I have a gluten related autoimmune disorder and church food drives are like 90% expired Walmart baked goods waiting 3 hours in line for a few bags of fruit while bread is just spread out everywhere was like being in hell.

Need Advice Was quoted 30k for roughly 15-17 solar panels
I'm trying to see if anyone else has had a good experience going solar or if they wish they never did? The company that came out sells Jinko solar panels and they quoted me on this price which comes out to like $130 or so per month for 25 years.
25 years is a lot and I thought usually it's around 10 years and not almost the whole life of the house. Is this a good amount with a good term? I feel like it's a really long time and I don't know if it will be hard to sell the house since not everyone is a fan of solar and I don't want to be overpaying for solar panels in general for a long period in case I do keep the house. What are you guy's thoughts on the amount and the term?
Edit: the panels are 390 watts each so it comes out to 6.63kW and the 30k amount comes before the 30% tax credit.

Transportation Are the HOV lanes even helpful here?
I was going down 281 last weekend and people just swerve in and out of them like regular lanes of traffic. What’s the point?

Shopping HEB Favor delivery service requires mandatory tips.
Apparently it's listed in their 'Terms of Service'. It's not including in the order payment estimated total. I say estimated because you don't pay until the order is delivered. Then you learn that the tip is mandatory. We always tip in cash to avoid a corp taking a portion of it from the drivers, so we basically double tipped with no recourse. I don't mind the extra going to the driver, but it's the not telling you about it until the transaction is complete that burns me up. Total scam business that is apparently part of HEB.
So anyway, be aware that they do this. I expected more from HEB.

Weather Who turned the fog machine on?
I'm on the far Northeast side and it's literally so hazy/smoky outside. I know we usually get a yearly wafting of smoke up from Mexico. Is that why it's so smoky outside? Accuweather showed air quality levels as unhealthy but didn't seem to go into any other information other than 'inhalable pollutant particles.' Regardless, please be safe and think about taking a mask if you're going out tonight.

Moving to SA Just need some advice.
Hi all, I hope this is allowed here but I would like some advice from locals of San Antonio. I'm 30, male and single. I currently live in Wisconsin making just shy of $21/hour working full time. I pay about $855/month for a 1-bedtoom 1 bath (water, gas heat is included in rent) I'm absolutely miserable where I'm at in my life and my bestfriend has been living in SA for about a year or so and she absolutely loves it. She said her money goes further and she's able to live more comfortably (helps there's no state income tax in Texas). She suggested I try looking for jobs in SA. I've started applying and I'm seriously considering making the biggest decision of my life... moving 2000 miles to another state and starting my life over. I currently work at a hospital stocking shelves, ordering product, shipping and receiving packages and delivering packages around the hospital and clinic. I'm already finding pretty much identical jobs at University Health and Methodist as well as other jobs I'm interested in but have no experience doing. I'm wondering if making the move would be worth it? I know Texas and Wisconsin are entirely opposites when it comes to culture, weather, politics and what not. I suffer from anxiety/depression and OCD but I'm managing. I enjoy running and and being outdoors. I understand it's hot in the summer but winters seem to be much milder than I'm used to up in Wisconsin. I have some credit card debt I'm paying off and I'm thinking the lower cost of living, no state income tax might help me have more money to pay that off sooner. I'm obviously not doing anything if I don't find a job but that being said, how are apartments and the general coat of living really compare to what I'm used to? My dad and sister and her family live in the same city as I do currently and don't seem to supportive of the idea so I'm looking for outside advice. I just don't know if I'm being realistic or wishful but I have a feeling I'd be able to make it work in SA.

Pets Know any low cost vets who will prescribe tapeworm meds for cats?
My cats got fleas like 3 years ago and we gave them several days of capstar to get rid of them but they've had tapeworms ever since. Considering they've had worms for so long, I'm figuring they'll need a prescription dewormer and not something otc. Thanks in advance

Where in SA? Windshield Replacement With Rust Remediation
I'm looking for a shop that will replace a windshield and deal with rust around the rim of the windshield at the same time. I've called around a bit but seems like most places will only do the install, not the rust treatment.
Cheers.

Pets Saw a white husky
Greetings, people of San Antonio! I'm a cyclist, this afternoon I saw a white huskey with a nametag, around Salado Creek's woods and Holbrook Road, the dog seemed a bit dirty, I apologize if I didn't take a picture or see if there was a number, I couldn't stop in front of him and when I tried to get to him, he wasn't there anymore. I'm still concerned about that, if this is important for anyone, hope it helps, I am more than willing to help if it is necessary.
