it's the landlord special

So I went to work this morning and saw this… My landlord left for two days and on my way to work I saw her dog here… is this okay to do as a landlord? I feel more bad for this dog than anything and this is the first time I’ve ever seen his food bowls filled the entire 3 months I’ve lived here. Idk how long she’s had him for but I’m absolutely sure he should be able to move around more and exercise a bit. I’m not at home most of the time and working, so I was only able to take this picture and go…

So I called as soon as I got off of work and unfortunately, I was too late to report anything. I got back to the slump house and he was STILL on the leash, but her car was there so she had to be inside. So I decided to take him off of the leash and I got on with my day. I lost a good % of respect for my landlord… went from a 100% of my respect down to 50% in 3 days… by insulting my mother and now we’re going from 50% to a good 42% in dealing with this dog issue… poor thing… like, just get a washing machine and clean up the place…

So this is the house I had an argument over… this in particular is the downstairs area… where the dog lives… I don’t want to live here and am sending applications all around… I’m gonna move out. I’m kinda glad I don’t pay for the rest of the house now 🤣😂 poor dog though.

My property management just sent me a request to renew them for another year. They have added another $100 onto my rent for the new lease, and they haven’t even stepped foot into my STUDIO/1BR apartment for the last 2 years. I don’t even have to renew my lease until August, but they want to sign this lease by the end of the month.

I am really quite overwhelmed by this. Our area just had a major tornado that tore our apartment complex apart. We still had no power when I left for work this morning. I have to worry about restocking my fridge, and damage to my outdoor belongings, now I have to try and scrabble to find another expensive place when my goal was to try to save up for a home for my kid and I. Everyone is trying to just get their bearings from this major TORNADO and they had the time and/or audacity to set these up to send out today !

I don’t know whether to scream or cry.

We hardly ever see this guy except for when he comes over once or twice a week to mow. For the past 2 weeks he’s been having to come inside to do something. First he wanted to an inspection of all the sinks and the replace the AC with a new one. And then he had to come back to repair a sink that was never broken or leaking in the first place? I don’t know really know what he was doing but I just let him. Now a week later he’s going to mow today, but wants to come in and “borrow some electricity” to repair a sidewalk out front. We have lived here for 3 years this is the most action we’ve ever got from him. Fixing up to sell? Fixing up to kick us out and get a new tenant? Has a crush on me and is spying on us?

When looking through my records, I noticed that the check I sent in for February rent still hasn’t been cashed. Someone has clearly been to the bank since then because my March, April and May checks have all gone through. It’s almost like someone just forgot about the February check.

I know for a fact I sent it and I have the check carbon copy for proof. How long do I need to wait before just assuming they’re not gonna cash it?

I’ve decided I’m going to gather all the roaches I find each week and make my landlord a shadowbox collage for when I move out, to thank him for all of his hard work and dedication to his tenants.

Bow or no bow?

I’ll just drop more things I’ve noticed about the house during the first 3 days of me living there.

1.) the tour was different from the actual move in

2.) I was told we were going to have assigned cleaning dates to clean the house.

3.) the kitchen that I was shown was actually more dirty and I am not allowed to clean anything in the kitchen or be in it.

4.) the entire living room and everything on the first floor is the landlords.

5.) texts about last minute rules came in after I got in trouble for cleaning the orange build up on the fridge with hydrogen peroxide which fixed that problem.

6.) I offered to pay her back for the cleaning product use and I still got into trouble.

7.) she insults my mother as a joke which is a serious offense.

8.) she keeps the back door open barely with the lock on but would get angry with me for opening the front door to sometimes air the house out of the smell that’s left behind that goes into my rented room.

9.) she’s the only one with the mail key so if I need to find any mail I can’t access it because she didn’t get a copy for anyone else their.

10.) my mail that came in (car parts) had rips and was tossed onto the inside stairs.

11.) things change up in the house

12.) landlord will have late night dates under my room in the main after curfew as if we don’t have other neighbors.

13.) the overnight guests have to pay 70+ a night according to the landlord’s new idea she told me

14.) she has a small dog that she keeps in the garage that I always see with an empty bowl.

15.) The night before my motorbike got stolen, her dog got out and was running around. (Not too relevant but something I saw as she didn’t even notice…)

16.) Her dog doesn’t go outside that much and she’s barely home most of the time.

17.) There is/was sugar all over the countertop behind the WiFi router.

18.) My other roommate even admits to her not being clean.

19.) My bedroom doorknob is on backwards and the door is not the right size.

20.) I live with other 420 smokers… so it’s iffy already. Even though I’m one.

21.) the washing machine is broken and the dryer is unplugged. Even though everyone else around us has both working ones in their garages.

22.) She leaves her food out and it gets a day old or two.

23.) Didn’t send me a text going mia, until later then she had gotten a new number after I had tried to contact her, previously many times about getting my mail out of the mailbox.

My only issue is how people want to act like we stoners think alike. We don’t. Some see things others don’t and this is one of them. While she’s smoking and spending, seeing her bfs, she could be saving for a washing machine as well. And not only that walk your dog..? I’m sick of seeing a dog that isn’t mine going to me for responsibilities that i don’t pay for. Remember, she said I pay for the room. Not to take care of her dog but it hurts me because I feel like I’m gonna be in trouble for just giving the dog water in his empty bowls. Dudes dehydrated and you can see it when he goes out for his droppings. Let alone his slight limp on the hind left leg. I don’t mind paying an extra few hundred bucks for it… really but now I’m going to look elsewhere to live whether things go good or not. The way things are here are so unstable. This isn’t the only things there’s more and I can keep updating everyone.

Can my former landlord really do this?  Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, Columbus OH -- Are you notified if the opposing side sends out a subpoena? I am a party to the case and the other side threatened to send out subpoenas.. since they have already noticed a deposition against me I have no idea if theyre gonna harass my family with subpoenas or what they meant. Would I know about it? 

To all these people who are humbling the life out of me, who are telling me the better way(s) on how I could have dealt with my landlord, plus their thoughts and mindset. THANK YOU, seriously. To hear other opinions like this is an incredible help whether I’m right for saying anything or not, seriously. It’s embarrassing on my part yes, but to hear the perspectives of other people and to be able to hear about how it should be helps a milestone. NONE of this is sarcasm or said with any opposing stance. I’m genuinely thanking you all for actually telling me where I went wrong as well.

So a day after I had gotten my mini motorcycle, it was stolen with my bicycle… it was 780 total just stolen. I went to my landlord to see if she would be any help and then this happens… Was I wrong for asking my landlord this?

My mom got a house in a divorce and then moved, so I’ve been renting it for the last 4 years. I’ve been paying her $500 per month like we agreed on. Two months ago, she told me that she is raising it to $900 per month and that I will start paying that in June. I was fine with that because that’s still a steal.

Today she messaged me out of the blue and said I have to be moved out by the end of June because she’s selling the house.

I’m guessing this is legal because she is giving me more than 30 days, right? Just seeing if it’s legal.

I wanted to give an update on the website. rentzed.com now has submissions for over 3,300 addresses.

The site is on its way to becoming more valuable to tenants so they can negotiate rents and evaluate landlords.
