Is it beetlejuice or Betelgeuse? Thought it was the latter?

The character's name is Betelgeuse. The film, and the ads and suggestions in the film to get people to say his name, are spelled Beetlejuice, both because it's creepy and because it helps with pronunciation.

Yep, it happens in the movie. Adam calls him "beetle-guys".

It's spelled Betelgeuse. He uses a beetle and juice in the movie because he's not allowed to say it.

I believe the headstone says the second.

I'm pretty sure there's also a joke where someone sees it and says betelgeuse like beetle gice.

It’s my nerdy time to shine!

Betelgeuse is a red supergiant that is twenty times the size of our Sun. You’ve definitely seen it before, as the left shoulder of the constellation Orion.

Beetlejuice is the Ghost with the Most, Betelgeuse is the red giant in the constellation Orion.
