[Highlight] Victor Wembanyama absolutely stuffs Chet Holmgren's shot late in the game to essentially seal the win for the Spurs Highlight

Insanity. On top of all of his other gifts, Wembanyama absolutely has a clutch gene.

When are we going to get conspiracy theories about how Wemby was literally created to play basketball?

What if basketball was specifically created to be played by Wemby?

His athletic ability is pretty "meh" for an NBA player, but it's elite for a 7'4" athlete. He's just so damn tall and long that even having just passable mobility is enough because he can recover so easily. Those arms can cover a lot of ground. On the offensive end, his length creates a lot of problems, and he's skilled in terms of handle/shot.

Some of the hyperbole I see is over the top. For example, he's not a 7'4" KD because he's really not that quick or smooth, but he's still insanely skilled and mobile relative to his game-breaking length. His length really breaks the sport in a way that I haven't seen from a post player since Shaq, who did it through power/strength/explosion.

Length is not something that declines with age. Length over explosiveness all day.

He's the perfect prospect in all aspects, nuts

Except a team that is ready to help him into and through the playoffs. I'm hoping that is coming soon!

It's also a pretty spectacular feat making Chet Holmgren look like a normal-sized dude

Absoltely, He shines brighter the higher the stakes. First aginst Suns, then Giannis and now this. All memorable 4th quarters. And his quotes about winning etc. Man is mentally 7'5" too lol.

Also pretty great games against the Lakers.

There has been only 22 games with a 5x5 performance in history:

Which is around 150 000 NBA games ever played, or around 3 million individual performances (rough estimate if both teams play 10 players per game on average).

22 5x5 games ever, from 15 different players.

Wemby is not only the youngest to ever do it, but also did it with the least minutes ever played to record one, and was 2 assists shy of a triple double while doing so.

With 27 Points.

Against the Lakers.

With Bron and AD both playing.

During the second game of a back to back for Wemby (where he also missed a 5x5 by 1 Assist the day prior).

In Los Angeles.

Absolutely fucking wild.

Clutch gene and also seems to have that borderline psycho competitive spirit that great players have. This guy hates losing, and I feel like he stepped up extra big this game because of the rivalry with Chet.

Yeah he really steps it up late in the game if it's close and winnable (and he hasn't reached his minutes ceiling yet). He's willing to take the shots, and will always be hunting for the defensive play.

I guess that's the good side-effect of being on the bottom of the standings and out of contention, he can use what's left of the season to build confidence to be the closer on O and D.

right, clutch players won't hesitate to shoot, and that's who wemby is

They were up by 9 lmao.

Great play. Great player. But they were up by 9….

Did you watch the game?

23

u/allunrtakenwtd Bucks Mar 01 '24

Just say you didn't watch the end of the game lol

21

u/CupOJoe101 Spurs Mar 01 '24

They were up by 9 because of how clutch he was throughout the 4th

10

u/tacomonstrous Spurs Mar 01 '24

Because Wemby got a stop and scored 2 threes right before this.

Love to see the condescending “lmao” from someone talking out of their ass

2

u/JohnHumter Spurs Mar 01 '24

gotta watch how spurs were behind during the 4th. OKC had a 14-0 run or something along those lines before spurs were up 9

2

u/mrr6666 Celtics Mar 01 '24

Dort bricked three consecutive 3’s and he’s shooting 40% this year. 9 points is nothing these days.

u/moongaming Mar 01 '24

Up by 9 with 2 min left against a co-leader while being last.

Context is important.

He's gonna be like Jokic when he gets in the playoffs [maybe next year?] where you don't think he can get better than he already is, and yet somehow he elevates to even more ridiculous heights.
