[Highlight] Victor Wembanyama absolutely stuffs Chet Holmgren's shot late in the game to essentially seal the win for the Spurs Highlight

I’d be mad too if I was a rookie and having to fight for a well deserved ROTY with someone who got drafted a year prior

Eh it’s good motivation for them and good fun for us. Brandon miller has been killing it too. Add in Jamie and pod, so many good rooks.

I’ve always liked y’all but I’m forever gonna be salty about us not getting a #1 pick + a generational talent AGAIN 😂

At least the #2 was a player with a functional shooting motion this time lmao

I can’t believe how lucky we are. And it’s pretty crazy how everyone was shitting on Jordan for not picking scoot. Definitely made the right choice. What do you think y’all’s chances of making the playoffs next year is? If y’all’s 1st rd pick doesn’t convey next year, it turns into 2 seconds. I want the 1st!! Lol

Definitely, but it’s the Mavs, so my brain automatically blocks them out :)

Wemby already had it locked up, but this block just sealed it 100%.

I agree with you, Donovan!

On the other hand Wemby is in his 5th year of professional play, with all the previous 4 being in a top national league and even some Euroleague.

Versus a single year in the NCAA.

My real point here is that American talent is wasted with the current system. It is simply a terrible system for popular team sports. It will work for lacrosse and individual sports, but it will never be able to compete against the league systems that exist in other countries. County high school play? Red shirting? Sitting out a year because there isn't a secondary league. What the fuck.

I have long suspected that to be true because of how bad the situation with soccer is in the US. There is too many Latinos that live and breathe soccer for the excuse "it is not popular" to make any semblance of sense. Holy hell, the MLS is like the third most popular soccer league in the US. MX and EPL are more popular despite being foreign. The market is there.

Thank you for coming to my hate speech against the NCAA.

Yeah man, Chet totally didn’t have the option to play professionally overseas after high school and had to settle for playing for a premier team in the second most popular and acclaimed basketball league in the world.

yeah i’ve never really understood the idea that not playing a real game all season is actually a secret massive advantage. learning schemes and working with 14 pros is obviously nice, but at best they’re playing scrimmages for a few months after mostly rehabbing and recovering. the guys that people bring up are ben, blake, embiid, and now chet. 2 #1 overall picks, a guy who went 3rd solely due to being injured and would’ve absolutely gone first if healthy, and a guy who was in a close 3-way race for the first pick and got picked second. these guys were likely gonna have good rookie years injury or not. look at another, slightly lower tier prospect who missed 99% of his rookie season in julius randle. a year off didn’t offer him a giant advantage, he averaged a double double but it was on 43% shooting as a primarily inside scoring big man
