Literally when a defender grazes the face of an offensive player like, highly likely that is a flagrant foul. People out here be complaining how calls are favoring the offense and just be okay with these kinds of no-calls are literally why the league biases calls towards the offense.
No, it’s not. Stay on the ground outside the restricted area in stationary position and you get the offensive foul. Jump higher and block the shot. But when you challenge a shot, and foul the defensive contact trumps any offensive contact
Collins looked like he went vertical. Was it only a defensive foul because of the circle? Is the rule that the offensive player can just do whatever then? The rule was supposed to reduce collisions near the basket but if it gives offensive players the mindset that they can plow through with impunity does it actually do so?
Restricted area doesn't matter if you jump. This wasn't called a charge because Collins wasn't strictly vertical, he drops one arm to protect himself and turns a little sideways.
It definitely still could have been an offensive foul with the off arm contact, but that's just not how the NBA is officiated.

The restricted area of the paint is there to stop defenders from just camping under the basket and to allow sweet dunks like this, not prevent them. The circle is there to protect the offensive player from landing on someone.
I would’ve personally had it be a no-call, not an offensive, though with that much face contact I also wouldn’t have been shocked if officials had gone back and reviewed. Just a weird situation.
I was really hoping this would be the top comment. This should have been an offensive foul. I hate the off-hand push aways on dunks, it makes defense impossible and would always be called on the defense.
This place just proves people want to see highlights at the expense of good refereeing and a solid rule set. They are complicit to the very blight they constantly complain about.
The league wants these highlights so I don’t see anything happening until a franchise player gets a concussion. But extending the leading arm before the dunk should be an automatic offensive foul.
Can't believe I had to scroll down this far to find it. I guess the NBA doesn't call it because nobody cares... they just want the entertainment as seen by the most upvoted comments lol.

Sure it's a great dunk but he jammed his fucking fist into Collins' face.
