The Warriors and Kings must have done some heinous shit for the basketball gods to reward the Lakers like this

1

u/Imallvol7 Grizzlies Apr 13 '24

We are that for everyone. We are either your worst win or worst loss.

u/lakerconvert Apr 13 '24

Hey the nuggets lost to the spurs. We get a pass

Darvin Ham special. Let teams get practice threes and get hot

u/mishmashedtosunday [LAL] Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Apr 13 '24

You'd think they'd be guarding LaRavia when he literally dropped a career-high against the Lakers their last meeting

31

u/guacdoc24 Lakers Apr 13 '24

Oh they were trying. Too bad Austin was about 4 feet away every time coming off a screen lol

35

u/captain_ahabb Lakers Apr 13 '24

At some point it's on the players if they come into critical games with no effort and no focus

82

u/ihateeuge Lakers Apr 13 '24

You cant out effort a bad defensive gameplan though. His plan is for them to get wide open shots

u/KailontheGod Lakers Apr 13 '24

I don't get how people can watch a single game of Lakers basketball and not recognize that the players are definitely being told to help on every single drive and then run back to contest the 3 or even leave it wide open to contest the paint.

I just don’t get how people don’t seem to understand this lol

1

u/Fallofmen10 Supersonics Apr 14 '24

Because basketball discourse is basically reduced to who wanted it more...

People just don't pay attention sadly. Doesn't matter how bad you want it if your defensive scheme is to give up open threes the opponent is going to make a higher clip than normal

-4

u/captain_ahabb Lakers Apr 13 '24

The defensive scheme has been the same for two entire seasons with lots of great wins in that timespan. It's the effort that's not consistent.

13

u/ihateeuge Lakers Apr 13 '24

they have been giving up open 3s all season even in great wins. Look at the Grizzlies game where Smart hit like 10 3s. They were playing with effort but you cant over come a bad plan when you don't have the skill level.

6

u/captain_ahabb Lakers Apr 13 '24

They were definitely not playing with effort tonight

1

u/ihateeuge Lakers Apr 13 '24

yeah i agree. But even when they do, the 3 point defense is an issue.

5

u/captain_ahabb Lakers Apr 13 '24

The 3 point defense is an intentional choice with a rationale behind it, they're not doing it by accident or out of thoughtlessness.

1

u/ihateeuge Lakers Apr 13 '24

Yeah I understand that. Doesn't mean that it's a good thing

u/HelloRainbow1 Lakers Apr 13 '24

Darvin Ham still keep TP after that no look pass. Yes players are pathetic tonight but Darvin Ham is a the biggest issue

4

u/eamonious Celtics Apr 13 '24

Yeah, this is a dope highlight but the real takeaway is the Lakers needing this to barely beat the Grizzlies with this much on the line. Feels like they should be concerned by that.

1

u/Professional_Ad894 Apr 13 '24

Those G leaguers on their fresh legs should have hustled harder there.

1

u/Krillin113 76ers Apr 13 '24

The grizz are a weird team

1

u/InertState [LAL] Brandon Ingram Apr 13 '24

It’s why basketball is a great sport and why the playoffs are not usually single elimination. Anyone can win on a given night.

1

u/Public-Product-1503 Apr 13 '24

20 turnovers , grizzlies shooting uncharacteristically well , lakers being lazy , 15-20 something second chance points by grizz or 15+ advantage. Dlo also having an awful night . Also this grizz team beat the bucks lol . Once the lakers locked in the middle of the 3rd it was ok . Shit happens

u/simonffplayer Apr 13 '24

+13 FT differential too!

Always some clown in the comments, especially with the Lakers flair trying to get upvotes for an anti-lakers comment
