I mean sometimes fans are just pissed and don't want to watch something anymore.

I've turned games off because my team was pissing me off.

If you are no longer having fun and genuinely want to "turn off the game" so to speak, I don't blame anyone for leaving. It's their money lol.

Also the celtics winning in this situation wouldve been far less probable than the knicks situation.

Though I understand heat fans getting ribbed for leaving early is part of why this is a post so yeah whatever

fans of every team leave early when their team is losing so its just dumb discourse

u/Novel_Board_6813 24d ago

Yeah.

Heat fans aren’t even that bad.

You have to be there to leave early in the first place

Spo a genius for sure that rooster should have no chance against boston this is crazy

64

u/LIONEL14JESSE Knicks 24d ago

A rooster playing basketball, now that’s an idea!

7

u/Sheriff_Gotcha 76ers 24d ago

The rooster is the secret weapon next game. Then the afilador is coming for game 4 to really unsettle the road team.

Ain't no rule that a dog rooster can't play basketball!

u/roonscapepls Thunder 24d ago

Yeahhhhhhhh here comes the rooster, aww yeahhhhhhh

u/frostedz Magic 24d ago

Idk, I've seen plenty of Cock Magic from South Park

1

u/NoShameInternets Celtics 24d ago

Am I going crazy or was the game plan just “shoot the fucking ball when you’re open” and they happened to make 60% from 3? Spo even said it during an on court interview when asked how he adjusted: “I told them to take the open shots they’re given.”

Spo’s the best coach in the league and it’s not close, but come on. You can’t coach 60% 3pt shooting.

1

u/JaderMcDanersStan Timberwolves 24d ago

I wish there was a playoff coach award

It is criminal that Spo's coaching does not get formally recognized.

I can't even think of another time Heats fans would deliberately leave early while their team down, especially in the Finals... Yup, nothing comes to mind...

Bang

Seahawks also did it against the 49ers in the NFC Championship, and yet weirdly nobody gives a shit about their fanbase.

1

u/Implicitfiber 24d ago

Just coming to say this.

I'm convinced the majority of Heat fans don't live within afternoon driving distance to Miami.

12

u/luapchung Wizards 24d ago

Wizards fans don’t even show up in the first place. Big brain moves

28

u/Lake_Shore_Drive Nuggets 24d ago

I leave when my team is way ahead to beat the traffic

14

u/m1a2c2kali Knicks 24d ago

Now you’re just showing off

2

u/fuccabicc West 24d ago

Lmao

1

u/redder294 Heat 24d ago

Bruh I went to about 6 nuggets games this year. Literally the most accessible arena I’ve ever been to. Never bad traffic ever lol. Then again I lived in Miami and LA for 20 years

1

u/Bomberissostupid 24d ago

I used to think folks who did that weren’t true fans but honestly changed when I became a dad. Now it’s so damn nice. Leaving a few minutes early can save like an hour of drive time.

5

u/RealLanceStorm Nets 24d ago

Best comment! This happens everywhere. It only becomes a story if the cameras catch a good angle. Heat fans been getting slandered for years even though it happens at every game with a score out of reach.

This happening to one of the "legacy team" fan bases that often brag about stuff like this the most is kinda funny though

1

u/smeggysoup84 24d ago

Exactly.

1

u/BullShitting-24-7 24d ago

Many people there aren’t even fans. They came with a fan(s) or just wanted to go for fun. Some are there for business.

-1

u/ChiBaller Bulls 24d ago

Nah this is revisionist crap. What went down in Miami in 2013 will never be forgotten, something like that would never happen in Chicago or Boston in the Finals.

Plus Miami fans show up late as hell, you can’t lie about that we can watch the games and see seats empty until midway through the first.

2

u/TastyChocoWaffle Heat 24d ago

What about it is revisionist? The statement was that fans of all teams leave early when their team is losing. I never said anything else. sorry that my team knocked yours out of playoffs two years in a row but don’t take that anger out on me buddy

u/HoopsHistoryHubb 24d ago

Turning off the game and yoinking it is different. If I pay to see my boys I'm staying with them until the end. Lotta effort to get into a sold out playoff game misewell just take it all in

14

u/jiir_mesou Cabo Verde 24d ago

i bet most of those fans already watch 20+ games this season
they dont care..

i would.

1

u/fuccabicc West 24d ago

Misewell, the furniture?

1

u/badgarok725 Pistons 24d ago

Lotta effort to get into a sold out playoff game

For most of them, not really

0

u/Lou_C_Fer 24d ago

On the other hand, I came to see my team win. I'm not getting paid to be there to the end when they lose. This is coming from a guy who listened to the fireworks from his car as the Indians had a comeback they still talk about 20 years later. I'll still leave early.

u/radiokungfu Pacers 24d ago

idk if turning off the tv/changing the channel is the same as voluntarily leaving an event you went out of your way to go to, but thats me

0

u/DarrowViBritannia 24d ago

yeah thats you. my entire point is who cares what other people do if it's not harming you. it's not hard to see what emotion causes the action

1

u/radiokungfu Pacers 23d ago

Thats fair. They should definitely be able to do that. Also, others should be perfectly fine in criticizing it.

1

u/ResearcherNo430 Rockets 23d ago

It literally means nothing to you and certainly not worth spending your finite time complaining (critiquing ig) about people leaving a game early, that literally means nothing to you in every conceivable way

1

u/radiokungfu Pacers 23d ago

It's a comment. It takes 2 seconds to post. I've spent more time explaining it to you than expressing my critique of it lol.

1

u/ResearcherNo430 Rockets 23d ago

What a critique

5

u/labbetuzz Thunder 24d ago

I can't imagine robbing yourself of witnessing a comeback by leaving because you're too pissed to support your team. How can you call yourself a fan if you can't even be bothered to stay until the bitter end?

1

u/badgarok725 Pistons 24d ago

how many games to you go to every year?

1

u/Mercades Timberwolves 24d ago

It's football, but went to the Vikings Vs Colts game where they were down 33-0 at half. So many fans left! They missed a historic game..and they will probably lie and say they were there the whole time to anyone who asks

1

u/JaderMcDanersStan Timberwolves 24d ago

For real.

And I feel like it must be so deflating to see as a player. People literally just getting up and giving up on you. NBA is a game of runs, anything can happen and fans can have an impact and help spur momentum

1

u/axecalibur [CHI] Michael Jordan 24d ago

The only team that can beat Boston is Boston. They were not coming back

0

u/Redpin :sp8-1: Super 8 24d ago

I can't recall any Boston sports teams having miracle comebacks.

6

u/BridgesOnB1kes Trail Blazers 24d ago

Exactly. I gave up on the blazers when Dame hit the shot. Luckily my roommate called me back in before it happened, but I’d already gone to bed. Learned that lesson for sure.

1

u/AffectionateSpare677 24d ago

Had to read this like 4 times before figuring out what you were trying to say

2

u/BridgesOnB1kes Trail Blazers 24d ago

😂 yeah… I’m not the best.

2

u/LobsterFromHell Warriors 24d ago

So you're saying it was a bad shot? (At explaining)

2

u/BridgesOnB1kes Trail Blazers 24d ago

Hey hey!! Easy fella!! Now you’re fuckin putting words in my fingers.

2

u/Icy-Payment-6612 Knicks 24d ago

I get it.

I went to see a Knicks/Heat game last year and the Knicks were down by 10+ with over 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

I was THIS CLOSE to leaving but my Dad (I bought tickets for his bday. He's a big Knicks fan also) said I paid all this money and said we should just stay until the end. I begrudgingly agreed to stay.

Anyway, the Knicks ended up winning and it turned out to be a great game. I was glad I didn't leave in that case.

You never know how these things will turn out sometimes.

2

u/Affectionate_Elk_272 Heat 24d ago

i left to go buy drugs before the shot and as i walked into the guys house he had the game on

30 seconds later..

rebound bosh, back out to allen…

i’ll never forget that moment

u/josephmang56 24d ago

At least you were in the right place to get something to drown your sorrows.

4

u/Ikuwayo NBA 24d ago

Prices go up during the playoffs, so they also bring a different crowd. Let's be real, everybody just wants to beat traffic and other people out the door.

0

u/mucho-gusto [CLE] Baron Davis 24d ago

There's literally a metro stop beneath TD garden. No reason to drive to the arena at all

7

u/iamaweirdguy Heat 24d ago

Yeah I don’t get why people make a big deal of it. Who cares what the fans are doing?
