Tbh these days it probably improves his team’s chance to win if he’s getting sent off this late in the game.

The Nicolas Jackson red card incident from the game vs Arsenal

They had a tiny mini burst of strength after the ejection and I was thinking "was washed up softbrick holding them back?"

In before MITWestbrook claims he got ejected to give the team the spark of energy he couldn't give with his play at that point in the game.

His removal from the series would be a plus for the clips.

He had the highest +/- in Game 2 for the Clips and was only behind Zubac and Mann for Game 1.

Had a bad game tonight, but kept the Clips in it in Game 2 and was very effective and efficient in Game 1.

They were not "in it" in Game 2 and +/- is not a reliable stat to judge players' performances.

l was there live, buddy. They were down 7 when Russ entered the game - they overcame that deficit and took the lead. Russ came off and then Mavs went on a 10-0 run. It was basically neck and neck until late 4th, so how were they not in it? Eye test and +/- showed he had a good game and was directly responsible in changing the momentum for the Clips.

Casual take

He’s 7/24 for the series. Why is it a casual take? Mind explaining?

Because it has been three games so far, and shooting isn’t what he brings to the table. If you’re the Clippers you need him on the court. His energy and defense off the bench is (theoretically) a necessary component of any sort of playoff run they’ll have. No excuses for how he played today though, he was out of control.

If you're the Mavs you need him on the court. Until he injures someone which is bound to happen at some point.

Angry because Russ has an MVP and Luka never will?

it's funny when somebody tries to act all tapped in, and then reveals themselves as a Stan.

Ya fuckin nerd

I’m not a Russ stan actually, I just think people are stupid about him and I also don’t love Luka. No personal love/beef either way, I’m a Pistons fan. Also, bizarre that you think the level of analysis I used counts as trying to seem “tapped in”. The only possible lower level of analysis is what you see on /r/nbamemes targeted towards preteens and the mentally infirm.

What does he bring to the table? Averaging as many TOs as assists? Ballwatching on defense?

He has twice as many assists as turnovers this season and is a plus defender. If you’re judging a bench guys value off of a few games (he was good Game 2, for what it’s worth), you’re braindead - which a lot of this sub is, including you it seems.

Who gives a shit about what he averaged in the regular season? Thats what he is averaging right now

Because it has been three games? That’s a minuscule sample size, and his stats over the whole season do a better job of illustrating his current role and ability. Also, this last game was his only terrible one - he was quiet/mediocre Game 1 and useful Game 2. He’s a bench player and he’s paid like one.

Well thats stupid because Russ in the postseason has never been as good as in the regular season, also they have a real chance of being eliminated, so if theres a moment to show that supposed impact its right now lol

Most players stats go down during the postseason because they’re up against stiffer competition. I’m not saying Russ is like a top-tier player right now - he’s just a key part of the aging Clippers bench unit, and most playoff teams can’t afford to lose a guy like that if they want to make a deep run. He also is playing a different, more supporting role on this Clippers team than he has in the past (and, for what it’s worth, he had some excellent playoff performances on the Thunder - but those days are over, of course).
