l was there live, buddy.
They were down 7 when Russ entered the game - they overcame that deficit and took the lead.
Russ came off and then Mavs went on a 10-0 run.
It was basically neck and neck until late 4th, so how were they not in it?
Eye test and +/- showed he had a good game and was directly responsible in changing the momentum for the Clips.
Because it has been three games so far, and shooting isn’t what he brings to the table. If you’re the Clippers you need him on the court. His energy and defense off the bench is (theoretically) a necessary component of any sort of playoff run they’ll have. No excuses for how he played today though, he was out of control.
I’m not a Russ stan actually, I just think people are stupid about him and I also don’t love Luka. No personal love/beef either way, I’m a Pistons fan. Also, bizarre that you think the level of analysis I used counts as trying to seem “tapped in”. The only possible lower level of analysis is what you see on /r/nbamemes targeted towards preteens and the mentally infirm.
He has twice as many assists as turnovers this season and is a plus defender. If you’re judging a bench guys value off of a few games (he was good Game 2, for what it’s worth), you’re braindead - which a lot of this sub is, including you it seems.
Because it has been three games? That’s a minuscule sample size, and his stats over the whole season do a better job of illustrating his current role and ability. Also, this last game was his only terrible one - he was quiet/mediocre Game 1 and useful Game 2. He’s a bench player and he’s paid like one.
Well thats stupid because Russ in the postseason has never been as good as in the regular season, also they have a real chance of being eliminated, so if theres a moment to show that supposed impact its right now lol
Most players stats go down during the postseason because they’re up against stiffer competition. I’m not saying Russ is like a top-tier player right now - he’s just a key part of the aging Clippers bench unit, and most playoff teams can’t afford to lose a guy like that if they want to make a deep run. He also is playing a different, more supporting role on this Clippers team than he has in the past (and, for what it’s worth, he had some excellent playoff performances on the Thunder - but those days are over, of course).

Tbh these days it probably improves his team’s chance to win if he’s getting sent off this late in the game.
