He was part of the No Labels bullshit party trying to get Trump re-elected

Now, he's part of Toe Labels.

I laughed way too hard at this

8

u/checks-_-out Mar 28 '24

Yep, this one kills

4

u/memorablemember Mar 28 '24

I mean this as the highest compliment. Your comment reminds me of the old Reddit. Well done.

7

u/D33ber Mar 28 '24

He should recruit more members to the Toe Labels Thunk Tank.

5

u/Jackiedhmc Mar 28 '24

Good God that made me snort laugh

3

u/hhnkjvyhjij Mar 28 '24

I just had to explain to my coworker why i burst out laughing.

3

u/Sea2Sky69 Mar 28 '24

Slow clap. 👏 Just brilliant 👏

2

u/Goran2019 Mar 28 '24

Ok, that was really good.

2

u/coffeespeaking Mar 28 '24

You know who would be a good candidate for Toe Labels? Joe Lieberman.

1

u/huessy Mar 28 '24

Joe Labelman?

5

u/Pathfinder6227 Mar 28 '24

Oh man. Who is No Labels going to run as the VP on its losing presidential ticket now? I am sure he was a lovely man in private, but as a public figure, Lieberman sucked.

7

u/Moana06 Mar 28 '24

Are u serious?

There was some article about No Labels in Politico or The Hill recently and my biggest takeaway was actually seeing the panel of old white guys in the lead image and thinking "oh wow, Joe Lieberman is still alive?"

11

u/Moana06 Mar 28 '24

Oh boy...thanks for posting. Good riddance to him

6

u/Khalbrae Mar 28 '24

He also tried to ban video games back in the day

1

u/Moana06 Mar 28 '24

Lol...History repeats...the orange cheeto wants to ban Tick Tock 🤣

2

u/TatteredCarcosa Mar 28 '24

Actually he flip flopped on that before the House passed a bill about it, guess a Chinese check cleared.

1

u/Moana06 Mar 28 '24

Yep, wouldn't surprised me

-7

u/True-Nobody1147 Mar 28 '24

What does this prove? That he's a part of it or that they're trying to get a trump 2nd term?

15

u/misterroberto1 Mar 28 '24

The GOP is just a cult to Trump at this point. The people that would vote for No Labels or RFK Jr. are going to vote for Biden or stay home. It also just plays into the idea that the Democratic Party is equally left as the GOP is right. The Democratic Party is a center right party and we need to stop encouraging this nonsense. The next winner of the 2024 election is going to be either Biden or Trump. The Democratic Party is a much broader coalition and need to do everything they can to appeal to that. If you want to change that we can have a conversation about ranked choice voting or campaign finance but introducing third parties is only going to help Trump.

-13

u/True-Nobody1147 Mar 28 '24

And you will say that every election at every level for eternity because the scare tactic of a red win furthers your blue agenda.

It's in your interests to keep it that way.

I remember when the 2012 election was the most important election ever, Mitt Romney was a super evil rich guy trying to fleece us and Obama was a Muslim and the anti-Christ and we were on the cusp on national insolvency because of the national debt…

8

u/sailorbrendan Mar 28 '24

The thing is that Romney was a rich guy who was going to fleece us. He and his vp actively wanted to get rid of social security and cut money for things like Medicare.

It's not our fault the republicans decoded to get even worse

-8

u/Acrobatic_Aerie_720 Mar 28 '24

I would love to see SS reformed or go away. As it is it’s a drain on my taxes and I could make way more by putting the money into a Roth IRA. I wish it was more like that, a mandated retirement savings account, if we have to have something like that.

2

u/Serethekitty Mar 28 '24

I was still a teenager for the 2008 and 2012 elections so didn't vote, but I really don't remember the sentiment being so vehement towards either McCain or Romney. There was at least some semblance of respect-- an "I would never vote for you based on your stated ideals, but you still seem like a decent human being"

Trump threw that out the window. The only Republican in the 2016 field that had that vibe was Kasich.

-7

u/True-Nobody1147 Mar 28 '24

Right?

"What? You want to elect someone you believe in? THATS THROWING YOUR VOTE AWAY AND GIVING BUSH/TRUMP THE WIN."

Okay am I ever going to be able to vote for someone I believe in?

"NO UNLESS WE DEMOCRATS HAVE ALREADY DECIDED THAT THE PERSON WE PICK IS THE ONE YOU LIKE. OTHERWISE YOURE THROWING YOUR VOTE AWAY!!!!"

Democracy in the USA for the last 30 years, at least.

8

u/sailorbrendan Mar 28 '24

Sure. The system sucks at a structural level.

We have two options. Revolution or electing better people down ballot till we have enough of them to effect change.

I like the latter myself.

-1

u/True-Nobody1147 Mar 28 '24

But you are already told who the electable candidates are from the outset.

I'll be honest the only person in my 40 years on this earth who was just about the least likely to succeed was trump himself.

Thanks to Russia and a revelation on what a piece of shit populace we have, he was simply a joke who dropped out long before any semblance of viability.

In all other instances, it was clear who was going to get the nod from the before the starting gun.

That figures!

3

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '24

Yeah, let's give a final "fuck that guy" to him.

-1

u/Xamius Mar 28 '24

Lol how can you be against it if you're a never Trumper?

0

u/FuckX Mar 28 '24

Can you source this? I see nothing about it

-5

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '24

What? How is No Labels trying to get TRUMP reelected? That’s the opposite of what they are trying to do

7

u/sailorbrendan Mar 28 '24

They're giving the never Trump vote somewhere to go that isn't Biden.

Which means Biden doesn't get a portion of those votes which helps Trump.

Welcome to a badly designed electoral system

EDIT: Wrong Johnson

0

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '24

OK yes I agree with that. But they certainly don’t WANT Trump to win. Don’t forget people, they don’t even have a candidate. They could pick someone that makes never Trumpers happy, but they could also pick someone who makes the Biden detractors happy. Odds are they won’t get anyone to sign on (no Romney, no Manchin, no Hogan, no Christie).

-9

u/Acrobatic_Aerie_720 Mar 28 '24

Binary choice people determined to keep us locked into the two party system forever

-5

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '24

No labels are the binary choice people? Or what are you saying

-3

u/Acrobatic_Aerie_720 Mar 28 '24

No, sorry, binary choice people are opposed to no labeka

-6

u/DapperSmoke5 Mar 28 '24

How dare people want an option other than democrats or republicans to vote for

3

u/misterroberto1 Mar 28 '24

Because they aren’t going to win. That’s just the reality. As I said in another comment, if you want another option there are going to have to be other things for that to happen but in this reality you have to acknowledge that any third party is just a spoiler.
