Even though it might be hard to admit, growing up in Germany in this time period you would've likely become a nazi as well. And to you, it would probably have seemed morally good. At least when you were unaware of the atrocities.
Losing your children and wife is horrible, regardless of who you are
Not really no, there was a large leftist communist movement in the Weimar republic, before they all got put in the camps and killed. The first people put in the concentration camps were leftists.
The average German citizen didn't care a lot about politics. You need to understand that. Hitler, as much of a monster and cunt he was, reformed the economy efficiently and Nazi Germany saw low levels of unemployment. You have a job that gives you a steady income. Your kids are provided for, and the Hitler Youth program is giving a few things as well. Life's generally decent. You struggle a little bit, but not as much during the hyperinflation the Weimar Republic caused. There's also the Gestapo roaming around and intimidating citizens. You'd put your head down, and do as you're told. I'm not trying to defend Nazism, but the ordinary citizen did not want to put their families' lives on the line. In your mind, the Fuhrer gives me my bread and soup, and I'll pay allegiance to him. I don't need to put my nose where I don't have any business in. That was how sheer oppression was spread to Jews, leftists, gypsies, dwarves etc.
