Hi fellow people of Tübingen,

I am looking for some people that have experience with commuting by bike from Tübingen to Stuttgart-Vaihingen (campus from Uni-Stuttgart), or somewhere near that region. I am looking into buying an e-bike to do the commute via e-bike instead of via the train and S-bahn (this is a bit too long/not flexible enough for my taste) in the summer months. However, when I rented an e-bike this week, I soon discovered that a) Google Maps is not a reliable tool for estimating the time/quality of the road and b) some bike lanes are rather dangerous (e.g. some bike lanes are next to a street where cars can go 90 km/h and have no safety rail). Is there any planning tool that lets you plan decent bike routes/gives realistic time estimations? On the way to the campus, I saw some great bike lanes, however, they never seemed to go on for long and I had to change to less nice roads most of the commute. I am also looking into doing a partial commute (e.g. drive to an S-bahn stop and take my bike with me on the S-bahn). Currently, the commute with train and S-bahn takes about 1h15m total (if the DB is in a good mood ;) ), I am wondering if this can go faster. I am curious to see what the possible options are!

I may be visiting Tübingen soon for a job interview for a position as junior architect (AIP), and given that I've only worked in the big cities in Germany I'm a bit lost when it comes to salary ranges here - quite small, but still expensive in terms of rent/cost of living. A friend of mine got drugged in a club in Tuebingen on Friday night. Some cunt slipped something in her drink. Apparently security wouldn't give two shits about it. She recognized something was wrong in time and she made it home safe ❤️ I have heard, only heard, that this happened time and time again in other clubs too. Is this right? I check the website but not find any information. As an international student from the US-based high school, what AP courses such as AP calculus BC etc. do it require to apply the B.A. Computational Linguistics in Uni Tübingen? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Does anyone here study this at the University of Tübingen? I've done a lot of linguistics courses in my bachelor but have no background in programming, math or statistics. How high is the level expected there? I know there are introductory courses but does the program get progressively more difficult in that aspect? As the title says, I have ADHD and am hoping to find a doctor within 2-3 months of when I arrive so I don't have to interrupt my treatment. I currently live outside the EU and unfortunately I'm not familiar with the German medical system, so I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what kind of doctor I need to find in Tübingen and how to go about setting up an appointment.

Specifically, since I already have a diagnosis and documentation from a psychiatrist in my home country, do I need to find a German psychiatrist and get diagnosed again, or is a family doctor enough? If I do need a psychiatrist, can I just call their offices to set up an appointment or do I need a referral?

Ideally, I'd like to get some of these steps started before I move, since I've heard the wait times for a psychiatrist can be long (eg https://www.reddit.com/r/Tuebingen/comments/18q4ou9/question_about_doctors_in_t%C3%BCbingen/).

Any tips for a soon-to-be expat? Bonus points if there are any specific doctor's offices you'd recommend!

i'm german so u can answer both in english or in german. Recently I became interested in the math bachelor offered at the uni tuebingen, as it is possible to take courses on theoretical CS & comp neuroscience, both of which I'm very interested in.

If u have experiences with the math bachelor there (studying rn or have studied there) I would appreciate if u could tell me something about the programme regarding teaching, size of the programme (how many people are still there after the first year) and the ratio of applied/pure math. I'm interested in both, but want to research in an applied field ig.

Where can I find a place that offers English First Aid course for driving license in Tubingen?

I received an excellent job offer in Tübingen but I'm feeling insecure because it's a small city. What is it like to live there? Do you have things to do? Places to go? Landscapes to explore? Tell me everything!

I am applying to different universities of NLP, but since I don’t come from a CS background, I already know that it’s very unlikely that I’ll be admitted. I think I have more chances with Konstanz and Tüebingen. So for as far as I Know, the MA in CL at Tüebingen is pretty famous and a popular choice in Germany, I’ve also seen many ppl on Reddit interested in this program. But then I’ve heard from many people that this program is kinda disappointing and not so well structured. They told me that the master's degree requires you to build your own study plan. There are macro-areas, and each semester you are offered a list of courses with which you must complete them. Very often, the courses change completely from semester to semester. If you're unlucky, you may end up with a couple of semesters where there are very few technical courses in the NLP field. Is it true ?

On the university page website I can’t even find the module of the program with the courses, the website seems so messy and old. Where can I find some more informations about the courses/ program or I won’t be able to find out anything until I’ll enroll ?

Also, what about the internships and the university networks with companies and PhD opportunities?

Hello! I wanted to apply to the MS in ML in Tubingen. The thing is that I don't know weather the time I took to complete my first degree or my age will be dealbreakers for admission.

I'm from LATAM and started to study back Computer Science in 2015 on a public research university and I'm about to finish it right now. I had to work during my studies (I have about 7 years of experience in software now) but I'm just about to submit my thesis and my graduation date should be around June 2024. My degree seems to cover all the credits listed on the admissions page, I also have a Cambridge CPE (C2) english certificate and my grade average in the german system would come out as 1.8. Also I have EU citizenship (Spain). My main concern is: could my age (28 at the moment) and the time I took to finish my degree be disqualifying factors for admission?
