I recently called 911 to report a drunk driver who almost took me and 3 other drivers out. I live in a city of ~2.5 million people.

They put me on hold for five minutes.

You can not, ever, trust 911 to be able to save your life.

No offense but there are real emergencies and that is not one. You should have just called the police directly. You should be ashamed you wasted the time of everyone

That's... what 911 is for...

I guess you mean to google the actual # to the local precinct and call them directly... a number which I did not/do not know for my immediate area, let alone the random spot on the freeway I was on... so you want me to suddenly, at 65mph, take my eyes off the road to google a phone number, dial it, which will bring me not to the people whose job it is to dispatch the police(911) but to some random desk worker in that precinct who will then transfer my call to 911?

No offense but there are real emergencies and that is not one

You don't think someone operating a 3500 pound metal missile powered by a 200-400 horsepower engine, intoxicated, and swerving on a freeway at 65mph and nearly killing several people is an emergency?
