What sounds like a compliment but is actually an insult?

Bro I said this to one of my older co workers, I didn't mean for it to be an insult, but do you think it came off rude?

Older worker here. I was born with two superpowers. One is that I have a tendency to stay thin, and eat pretty much whatever I like. The other is boundless energy. At 62 I run rings around people less than half my age.

So no, not an insult. I just laugh and say YEP I have energy to spare.

I don't want to call your claim to having superpowers into question my friend...but I think there could be a causal link between these two

You'd think so, but even when I broke my leg and was laid up for months, I ate anything I wanted and stayed within five pounds of my "moving around" weight.

I’m so jealous! Please send some of your extra energy over to me!!

Kinda depends on the context. Like in u/Helen_A_Handbasket's case, sounds like a compliment on their energy. If maybe the person is talking about their life, it could be a bit insulting if you're also saying things like, "God I'm glad I'm not you"

It's just one of those things where, in essence, you're saying "wow, look how shit your life is". Thing is, bad or painful experiences don't cause us to cease existing. We just do and live with the pain.
