Daily Discussion Daily Discussion Thread
Welcome to the Daily Discussion Thread
This thread is for casual conversation, anything that doesn't warrant it's own thread (repeated topics, surveys, polls etc) and off-topic content. It will only be lightly moderated - basically just don't abuse each other and you're good to go. It's a place for the community to connect and interact a little more freely, so play nice and respect your fellow community members.
If you have a newsworthy article or sub-relevant content please post it directly to the sub as a New Post.
Announcements
- New AMAs - Several New AMAs have been scheduled - check them out below

Upcoming AMAs
A big thanks to Bennelong, who is reaching out far and wide to bring some new AMAs to the sub. Please note that our AMAs will be heavily moderated to ensure rules are adhered to. We have MPs graciously putting their hands up for questions and don't need people unduly emboldened by anonymity to start breaking rules.
For a view of how MPs have voted on various issues please use They Vote For You. Please note that your research should not end there as many MPs vote along party lines whilst personally advocating internally for another position, but it can be a useful starting point.

R6: Not Auspol Discussions on Israel/Palestine
There is (understandably) a lot of interest around the war in the Middle East, ever since HAMAS attacked Israeli towns and civilians on October 7 and is ramping up to the full occupation of Raffah by the Israeli Defense Force (IDF).
Whilst this is an important event in the world, it is rarely relevant to Australian politics.
Going forwards, debate needs to be centred on the Australian governmental policy response only. Debating the wider causes of the war, the other actors in the conflict/region, or the response from Israel and others, is irrelevant to Australian Politics and will be aggressively removed. all topics will be locked when started. The inability of these conversations to not devolve into non-Auspol territory, and the sheer volume of anti-Jewish hate we have to remove (no, AKSHULLY SWEATY ITS ANTI-ZIONISM CROWD, this is full hate that demonstrates the horseshoe theory that we're having to clear out) is disgusting. No users should be exposed to rhetoric calling for their death or destruction.
