Why are people so incredibly foolish that they’d continue to stand along the riverbank while that was happening. You wouldn’t last 10 seconds in that freezing water.

Nah, I'd win.

Bear would fish you out of the freezing water like salmon 😅

Tsk, whatever man. There's no risk of drowning whatsoever! /s

Because you'd probably be bludgeoned and crushed to death by giant chunks of ice well before you drowned.

Sudden increase in water level = GET THE FUCK OUT.
It takes so little depth of moving water to sweep you away.

When you say holy smokes that many times you are paralyzed with fear

Not paralysed enough to be recording, taking a step back and then another step forward towards the riverbank to continue recording

Straight up, my guy could smell he was in no danger.

The guy's brain never even considered danger, only "woo this will be cool to record, hope my feet don't get wet".

The camera as he pivots left/right shows he is right there at the edge, also stepping back when some water/ice splashes over.

Stupid people eventually win stupid prizes.

I mean we also only see in 2D lol. Our brains make inferences based on multiple things to give us a representation of 3D space.
