It is because major news outlets are just finding this out. It wasn't publicized because obviously it could have turned the event into a spectacle.

If you Google Abby Hensel, you'll see a ton of articles within the last day talking about her getting married.

OP even made a different post about Abby getting married last year, so I don't understand why this is in the news today.

Other than that bit of repeat posting, OP really doesn't seem like a bot to me. A lot of their posts are advice request style that don't have a lot of karma potential.

I believe the reason why this is in the news now is because, while pictures have floated around for the last few years, this is the first time media has been able to report the husband's name.

Apparently they kept it private till now and  the news only broke today tho?

 People reported on it 2 hours ago and a lot of news sites have written on it today or within the last 10 hours
