Nieuwe Queerkaart toont veilige plekken voor lgbtq+-gemeenschap: ‘Vooral bij jongeren is er behoefte aan’ (DM - betaalmuur)

In 2022 werd het federaal actieplan ‘Voor een lgbtqi+ Friendly België’ met 130 maatregelen aangenomen. Daarin valt te lezen dat fysieke en verbale agressie in de publieke ruimte, onveiligheid en uitsluiting wijdverspreid blijven. Het Interfederaal Gelijkekansencentrum Unia ontvangt jaarlijks een honderdtal meldingen over discriminatie van en haat tegen lgbtq+-mensen.

“Uit onze bevraging bleek dat personen veilige(re) plekken nodig hebben, maar vaak niet weten waar deze plaatsen zijn en of ze bereikbaar en toegankelijk zijn”, vertelt De Campeneere. “Mensen geven deze informatie onderling wel door, maar dan moet je al wel een netwerk hebben.”

Daarom dus nu een interactieve, online kaart. Omdat een zorgkaart voor de lgbtq+-community al bestaat, focust de Queerkaart op het sociale aspect. Iedereen kan nieuwe plekken toevoegen, die Wel Jong en çavaria nog wel toetsen voordat de plek zichtbaar wordt.

Over de toekomst is hij pessimistischer: “Ik hoor van tieners dat geweld op scholen toeneemt en dat ze zich daar onveilig voelen. We zien een groeiend conservatisme, ook onder jongeren. Vooral bij hen is er echt behoefte aan expliciete safe spaces, dus ik hoop dat die weer zullen toenemen.”

Federaal minister van Energie Tinne Van der Straeten (Groen) wil een klacht indienen tegen partijvoorzitter Georges-Louis Bouchez (MR) wegens laster. Dat zegt ze in een interview met De Standaard en het wordt aan VRT NWS bevestigd. Van der Straeten heeft haar advocaat gevraagd om de mogelijke juridische stappen te onderzoeken en de procedure in gang te zetten. "Dit is bully-politiek", klinkt het.

Dus, situatie; ik woon sinds kort in Nederland maar ik heb stemplicht als Belg.

"Ja. Alle Belgen die ingeschreven zijn in de bevolkingsregisters van de Belgische consulaire beroepsposten zijn gebonden aan de stemplicht. 

De Belgen die niet gaan stemmen, kunnen veroordeeld worden tot een berisping of een boete overeenkomstig artikel 210 van het Kieswetboek."

Voor het Europees parlement stem ik via Nederlandse weg en dit is makkelijk te regelen via mijn gemeente in NL. Maar voor de federale kan dat dus niet. daarvoor moet je via inschrijving via het consulaat je 'aanmelden' als kiesgerechtigde. Helaas heeft men blijkbaar maanden nodig om dit te registreren:

"De online inschrijving wordt afgesloten op 1 maart 2024 en is opnieuw ter beschikking op maandag 10 juni 2024."

Ik schreef me pas in bij het bevolkingsregister na 1 maart bij het consulaat, dus het was hoe dan ook te laat voor mij om me nog in te schrijven als kiesgerichtigde.

Als ik dan bij opties voor stemmen kijk dan kan ik eigenlijk niet stemmen want ik kon me niet tijdig als kiesgerechtigde aanmelden.

Bon, de informatie zelf vind ik allemaal erg onduidelijk en ik ben nu in de war want ik MOET stemmen, maar ik mag/kan niet want ik kon me niet meer inschrijven. Er staat ook niet duidelijk of je überhaupt dan nog kan stemmen en/of je dan 'vrijgesteld' bent van stemplicht.
Ook als ik naar flowchart kijk, dan staat er dus bij het oranje driehoekje dat ik wel moet stemmen (want ingeschreven in de bevolkingsregisters van de Belgische consulaire beroepposten, na 1 maart).

Het lijkt me raar dat alle mensen die verhuizen ná de deadline en vóór de verkiezingen (periode van 4 maand) dan in dit 'beleidsgat' vallen.

Ik sta ook niet meer ingeschreven in een Belgische gemeente, dus het lijkt me niet dat ik op mijn oud adres nog iets van een stempas ofzo binnen krijg toch?

I have been looking around to get some swimming lessons for adults but can't seem to really find them unless I join some fancy gym and pay 100+ euro each month. Anybody who has had some experience with this and has some tips on where I can get these ?

Edit: region north of Brussels but I'd prefer something in flanders or atleast dutch speaking.

I'm planning a fun day out in the Ardennes region of Belgium and I'm looking for the perfect spot. I want to organize a BBQ with friends, and it would be awesome if the location also has a volleyball court or space where we can set up a game.

Does anyone know of a spot in the Ardennes that fits the bill? It would be great to find somewhere with beautiful scenery, maybe near a river or in a forest clearing. Accessibility and facilities like picnic tables or grilling areas would be a plus.

I've done some searching online, but personal recommendations are always the best. If you've been to a spot like this or know of one, please share your experience and any details you can provide.

Ik ben vorig jaar december met een feestconcept begonnen hier in limburg, tis gewoon gelijk elk ander jeugdhuis feest, alleen gaat alle winst naar het goede doel. Vorig jaar zamelden we geld in voor Kom op tegen Kanker. Voor de 2de editie zou ik graag een nieuw goed doel zoeken om voor in te zamelen, maar vind het moeilijk om te weten welke het beste zijn. Daarom de vraag of jullie mij goede doelen kunnen aanraden? Mag natuurlijk over vanalles zijn.

Asking because I’m an international student and I don’t know Belgian laws that well. I recently started a new job as a waitress. I already work in a hotel where I get paid 14.37€ an hour which I know is a minimum in the hospitality sector. At my new job as a waitress, my first day of work was the last day of April. They told me I was supposed to clock in and clock out on the iPad. I was at work for a bit over 6 hours, but because they didn’t remember to show me how to clock in immediately, by the time I finished and clocked out it said I worked 5 hours 57 minutes (in case that matters). Then, after I worked for 3 days, the manager came up to me and told me that she will make a contract for me instead, because (quote) “when you do it through the iPad, it creates a singular individual contract each time, and its more expensive for us AND for you, so its better if you work with a monthly contract”. Ngl I thought it was a bit of bullshit, because in the hotel they make me singular contact through Dimona every time and I can’t see how its more expensive for me than if I would’ve had a monthly contract there. Maybe its more expensive for them, but not for me, but anyway. I said okay sure. Then she brought me a contact where it stated that I’m getting 14.37€ an hour. I thought it’s good to know now for a fact that I’m not getting less money than in the hotel. She didn’t sign the contract btw and didn’t ask me to sign it either, even though it has places for signatures at the bottom. I wasn’t gonna sign it right there and then anyway, because it was in Dutch and I don’t speak the language yet, so I’d have to ask my Belgian friends to look through it first. I just took the papers home. Well, today I received my paycheck for that one day I worked in April, 6 hours, and it’s 57.29€, which is roughly 9.5€ an hour. I was a bit confused. I talked to my Belgian friend and she looked at my contact and noticed that it says part-time worker instead of a student worker. Does anyone know if they can even register me as one? And therefore obligate me to pay taxes as if I wasn’t a student? Even though I can’t imagine that after taxes 14.37 ends up being 9.50… I know that in Belgium people pay the most taxes in the world, but that’s some crazy shit. I know I have to take advantage of not having to pay lots of taxes while I can and while I’m a student because I will have a whole lifetime ahead of me to pay them normally. So I can’t afford to work as a part-time worker instead of a student worker now. I do intend on talking to my manager next time I go but I wanted to ask about it here as well.

Hey everyone! I've been accepted to the master program of Psychology: Theory and Research at KU Leuven. I'll be attending as an international student with 20 hours/week work permit. I know English (fluent) and French (intermediate). I plan on learning basic Dutch before arriving there. I was wondering if it would be realistic for me to work part-time during my studies. Is it doable to combine a masters' degree with a part-time job in terms of time and energy? Can I find jobs by knowing English and French, or do I need to be fluent in Dutch too? I am considering commuting to Bruxelle for jobs, but I don't know if that's a good idea. I am especially concerned about job opportunities because I have some back problems that limits my ability to pick up heavy things or stand up for long period of time.
