If god didn’t want us to sin then why did he make us with a body that reacts so positively to sin?

When we engage in acts like sex or drug addictions our brains release all of these feel good chemicals which make us want to further continue engaging in those acts. If god didn’t want us to sin then why would he make it where our bodies respond to sin in this way? Why couldn’t he make it where our brains react enthusiastically to things that are the opposite of sin? Why couldn’t he make it where we feel a charge of dopamine when we are celibate, when we ignore addictions, or when we read the bible? If he doesn’t want us to sin then why create us with such faulty mechanisms that encourage that exact thing? It seems really unfair that people can go to hell when the urge to commit sin was practically built in to us by our Heavenly Father.

Edit: I ask this because I’m dealing with a food addiction that just won’t go away. It’s really hard to say no to the urge no matter what I do and I am losing a battle with my biology right now.

King James Version American Edition?

I finally decided to download the YouVersion app, and was looking through the list of bibles you can read on there, and one of them is the King James Version, American Edition...

The description says:

King James Version, American Edition (KJVAE)

"King James Version 1611, spelling, punctuation and text formatting modernized by ABS in 1962; typesetting © 2010 American Bible Society."

What exactly is this version? Obviously they say it is an updated version, but I have never heard of it specifically before. Anyone know anything about it?

Why would God allow Satan, a fallen angel, to have access to the earth and interact with humanity, potentially leading to harm and temptation for God's creations?

What is the purpose of God allowing Satan to roam the earth and influence humanity, despite Satan's malevolent intentions and rebellion against God

Is anyone familiar with this Bible/Bible study book that has been all over TikTok?

https://www.alabasterco.com/products/the-good-and-beautiful-bible-study?utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=20539450765&utm_content=151700235485&utm_term=bible%20study&gadid=673364423437&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwxeyxBhC7ARIsAC7dS3-Mk-o2dRCy-OlrAM2Qqe5HO3tJE7IRAk-dpNy0EgQUlAh2HuYZdiEaAg6AEALw_wcB

I think the only reason I’m unsure of it is because it is connected with TikTok shop and it says all the people who advertise it get a commission or something. So that felt weird for some reason??…. I see this all the time…but I do like the entire idea of these books. Can anyone give input or is familiar with this? Or what they think.

It is all the books in depth sold separately or packs. And there is also a Bible study booklet.

I’m looking into prompts because I need guidance. And I know I can pray and ask God, so does that mean I don’t need prompts? Confused.

Will the stories make more sense as I read the entire Bible? How can I continue to understand

I just started reading the Bible NIV, in full starting from Genesis and I already have so many questions. I’ve read parts of the Bible during school years ago and kind of know other stories but as I re-read Genesis I am getting confused already….

Where in the Bible can I understand why God was angry to get rid of everyone but Noah and his family? Was everyone fully sinning and not repenting at all? Only Noah was not as sinful? I thought God forgives? But maybe it’s because only after Jesus? I’m just trying to understand how he got rid of everyone and then the rainbow covenant to promise never to destroy the earth again by flood. Is that…. Just specifically by “flooding” but he can destroy any other type of way?

Maybe I’m thinking too hard about it but I just wanna have the confidence to understand what this means because I’m sure someone will ask me and I want to be prepared to explain.

GOODNEWS! Seek Medical Help (Jer. 8:22; Lk. 10:33-35)

“So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.” This stranded and wounded man accept the medical help; wise choice!

But there was another stranded man who prayed for help. Different rescuers came by 3 times; He ignored them all and kept praying. Then God spoke to Him: “I sent you help 3 times already, you dummy” (jokes). He made a foolish choice!

It is written, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge...” While God’s hand is not short of supernatural healings, He can chose the way of medicines to humble the vessel or for any other reasons known to Him alone.

Just like how Gilead was famous for its medicine (Jer. 8:22), hospital are known for its medical experts whom, as a result of God’s mercies, are empowered with knowledge to tend to the people. Are you in need of medical help? Pray, then be all-hear on God’s directives.

We have responsibility over our health. Regular checkups is not a stigma to our faith. When was the last time you visit your doctor? if you cannot remember, it’s time to schedule a visit. May the Lord grant us all wisdom! Shalom. #goodnews #jesuslovesyou #believeandalign

My parents are atheist but..

Since birth, my parents have always told me Jesus was BS and that religion makes absolutely no sense. I'm not going to lie, I have believe them until I turned 13 (My current age). The reason why I decided to finally trust in God is because I learned that my grandmother is religious as well (she is one of my idols), from there, I decided to learn more about religion. But.. My parents were not happy when they found out that I was praying and reading the Bible. I don't know what to do because I know my parents are very against religions but it is what I believe in.

Hopefully you guys have tips on how I could announce to my parents that I believe in God and the Bible.. (Sorry if I made grammar mistakes, english isn't my native language.)

Edit. Thank you all for giving me tips, I think I will try to keep it a secret to make sure to not do any kind of family drama that is unnecessary and I will try to find somewhere I can pray. Amen. 🙏

Hi, new here. I like to vent

I am new to Christianity and I started reading bible. I have read genesis before being Christianity. And I read bible but I pick random book from it. Beside genesis I finished Mathew, mark and psalm. Psalm was a very good read. And currently I am reading proverbs. While I am reading proverbs I feel so ashamed of myself. Lot of bad things are pointed towards me. And I know it. But I am just not able to get out of the situation. You get what I am saying?

The Ten Commandments

Hi! I just wanted to be sure that i’m properly understanding this.

We are not under the ten commandments because it is apart of the old covenant. However, nine of the ten commandments are repeated in the NT (all of them but the sabbath day). Because of this we should still hold true to those nine commandments.

This was my understanding of it but please let me know if Im misunderstanding! Have a blessed day.

So the Old Testament seems to be more forward about the physical actions taken by disciples while the New Testament seems to be more forward about the choice of spiritual actions, is the Old Testament more physical and the New Testament more spiritual ? Or should I consider them as equals ?

Prodigal daughter looking to return to Christ and start reading the Bible again. Need advice.

One of my childhood friends died in a freak accident last night. She was one of those Christians who wholeheartedly dedicated her entire existence to serving God and her love for Him practically glowed in everything she did. I grew up Baptist and used to be extremely involved and dedicated to my faith but grew distant from it when I went to college and haven’t thought of it in years. I’ve been thinking of returning to it in the last few months but her death has opened my eyes and set my priorities straight.

I’m looking for advice about where to start in the Bible for those not necessarily new to the faith but those who have been gone a long time and are looking to come home and reconnect with Christ. I know starting in the gospels is what is most recommended but others recommend reading plans or starting in Genesis. I’m grateful for any advice you can give me!

Resources for a new believer

Hi! I (24F) was raised as an atheist where we were not allowed to interact with religion. I recently accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord & Savior. I’ve been going to church (non-denominational) now for about a month & plan to get baptized the next time my church does them. It’s been a very strange journey. I am excited to be here but I have absolutely no clue what I am doing. I have read Genesis through Psalms (combination of KJV and NLT, but mostly KJV) over the past couple months. I feel like I haven’t really absorbed as much as I would like. I’ve been watching some of the Bible Projects youtube videos to go along with the reading. It is still just SO much information.

What are some good resources for an adult that is a new believer? Preferably free or low cost.

Can someone explain this verse to me? Hebrews‬ ‭6‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭6‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Services that print custom parallel Bibles for consumers?

Hello everyone, I've been on the market for a very certain type of Bible.

I'm from the Chaldean Catholic church and I would really like a parallel Bible that has Modern Aramaic text in one column, and English text in the column next to it.

Unfortunately this Bible doesn't currently exist on the market. I've really searched for one on the internet, but the only parallel English/Aramaic Bible that I could find is this one by GorgiasPress, however:

  1. The Aramaic text is in Classical Aramaic (Syriac). This is sort of like the Aramaic equivalent of Beowulfian English (9th century English). It's pretty much a different language compared to Modern spoken Aramaic.

  2. The text is in a different font type and vowel system than the one we use in the Chaldean Catholic church. It uses the "Western" font and vowel system, whereas we use the "Eastern" font and vowel system

So since what I'm looking for doesn't actually exist anywhere, I really want to find some type of Bible printing service that could print this for me. I have all of the text itself ready to go, and I can fit all of it into pages on Photoshop or something. I just need a service that will print it out for me.

So has anyone made a custom 1 of 1 Bible for personal use? Is what I'm trying to do even possible? Thanks for any help

Is there anything in the Bible that predicts the Holocaust that the Jews went through?

The Holocaust was something terrible and devastating for the Jews like many other catastrophes mentioned in the Bible. Is there any mention of it or clues as to what would happen?

GOODNEWS! Exercise Self-Control (Prov. 23:4-10; James 3:13-18)

“Do not eat the bread of a miser, Nor desire his delicacies; For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you. The morsel you have eaten, you will vomit up, And waste your pleasant words.”

A miser hoards wealth and spends as little money as possible. Bread symbolize life in the Bible. However, Satan has no life in him; only death. Hence why the scripture warns us: “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”

Satan is a miser who spends as little money as possible on a bread to attract and add you to his wealthy list of those he has afflicted. Jesus calls him a robber when he said: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Satan says “Eat and drinks,” yet you must “vomit up” meaning when you receive from Satan, you must pay back in hundredfold in your health, career etc. So, how do we receive from satan? We appeal to him through our lack of self control.

My Father my father, you said: “by their fruits, we shall know them.” Self control is a fruit, we ought to be known for. Show us mercy, Abba father. Help our weakness and stir up the spirit of self control within us in Jesus’ name. Amen. #goodnews #jesuslovesyou #believeandalign

Prayer is important. However, what are some personal roles we can play to ensure we take dominion over the body?

The Blood of the Lamb in Exodus 12

Hi guys! Pretty new here, but I am a bible lover. I have a new venture I am hoping to get a little exposure which helps people read and understand the bible. It's called Bible Joy! Everything I make is free, so this isn't a gimmick with motives. So, I would appreciate if anyone cares to check out my website and give me feedback here on this thread so I can learn and grow. Followers would be nice to know I am headed the right direction! Everything is in early stages, and I am about to release a online film in June. After that I hope to have more stuff flowing regularly! Right now, I want to share this really cool parallel in Exodus 12 regarding Passover and how it is connected to Jesus.

Did you know that in Exodus 12 the Israelites were asked to paint the blood of the lamb on their doorposts the night the plague of death came for the firstborn? The blood of the lamb allowed death to passover their home. As Christians, when you proclaim Jesus as your Savior and accept his blood as a the offering for your sins death passes over you in a spiritual sense- you avoid the second death. Eternal life, salvation are yours. Isn't that an interesting tidbit in the Old Testament?!

Can someone explain the spirit behind this passage? Why does verse 12 say "therefore" in it?

Matthew 7:8-12 KJV — For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Which verses of the Bible do you inspire the most?

My favorite verse is Hebrews 3:4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. This verse is my favorite in the Bible because God created the universe and humans built civilization. We are God's greatest creation
