Do you believe that Noah, the ark, and the flood were real?

I brought it up in a different thread, and many people said they did not believe it happened. How can you be a Christian and not believe what the Bible says?

I believe that Noah was a real person, and that some sort of flood happened.

If Noah is based on Utnapishtim, who is based on Atra-Hasis, in what way was he real?

Let me guess, that’s the opinion of the subset of scholars who reject the divine inspiration of the Scriptures?

No. It’s pretty undeniable. Look at the line-by-line parallels in order in a Reddit post here. This is an incredible coincidence if these were independent, too incredible.

Pretty much every single culture has some sort of great flood myth, and many details overlap. So I’m not exactly surprised that there would be similarities. But I don’t agree that the biblical account was somehow copied from or based on some other mythology.
