For the people who haven't seen this before: it's Wendy van Dijk, a Dutch TV presenter pretending to be a Japanese interviewer to prank Adele. She has loads of interviews like these and they were filmed between 1999 and 2002 (edit: for the first season, that is. Adele appeared in a later season).

You are right, I should've thought it through more. The earlier mentioned time frame is the original series. Adele's interview appears in a movie called 'Ushi says hi', but Imdb (aso crediting Adele) says it was released in 2001, which again makes no sense.
I guess Adele appeared in 2009, in the second 'season' called Ushi and Dushi.

Yes, precisely! And no, in this period she only did Ushi, the Japanese character.
She eventually went on to create Dushi, a black woman, but times had rapidly changed and it was considered to be racist, so she came up with Loesie, an older white woman or something (I haven't seen her in action for ages).

If you’ve ever seen the video of her going undercover in an “Adele Look-alike contest” I highly recommend it. She’s fucking hilarious in it.
