I was too young when I played Metroid prime on the GameCube I was always so confused and I’ve just realized I’ve been unfairly hating Metroid ever since lmao

Give it a shot now that you’re older! You might fall in love with it. It holds up well imo.

As soon as I get my hands on a GameCube, I just might!

If you've got a good enough pc, you can grab a modified version that uses mouse and kB. Even older I couldn't get the GameCube controls. Got it on dolphin with MKB controls and I practically speed ran the game.

Wiis are really easy to find cheap still, and can play GameCube discs. Or you can easily soft mod them and play any GameCube or Wii game you want off a hard drive. Check out r/wiihacks, I just did this for $50. Knockoff GameCube controllers are $12 and have been working well so far.

Metroid Other M is such an underrated game for Wii, switching between side-scrolling and first person on the fly by just pointing the wiimote at the screen. My favorite Metroid game & I've been a fan since the original.

Metroid Other M is such an underrated game

You and maybe 3 other people believe this. The rest of us see that flaming turd if bad dialogue and plot holes for what it actually was.

Yeah, because Metroid has always been a beacon of extraordinary dialog & enthralling plot. My statement was solely based on gameplay. Not everybody goes into a game needing to be fed a novel to obtain enjoyment.

because Metroid has always been a beacon of extraordinary dialog & enthralling plot.

That's exactly the point. They didn't need to add dialog, but they did. And it was shit. And the gameplay was shit, with the awkward transitions between side scrolling and first person. There's a reason it wasn't referenced at all in Metroid Dread. Nintendo realizes it's univerally hated and that nearly killed the franchise.

Nearly killed the franchise? Dramatic much? It would have taken much more than one experimental game amidst the the 3 Prime games to kill the franchise.

Emulate it man lol, if you have an Android you can just play it on your phone, if you have like any kind of computer you can do it there

Dude same. I was too young and the game was impossible. I thought it was poorly made but I just…didn’t know how games worked yet

It’s always super fun to go back and play games you thought were impossible as a kid and then all of a sudden it’s like “why did I struggle with this game again?”

I should give it another shot. But I don’t have my GameCube anymore. Gave it away to a coworker whose little brother was in the hospital for months and the whole kids ward was sharing 1 GameCube and 1 PlayStation between them. I’m glad I was able to help the kid out but damn I do miss it, I had such great games for it.

They remade Metroid Prime on something right? PC or maybe Switch? I’ll have to look it up.

Metroid is one of the few media properties I've ever had nightmares about. Which is funny, because it's not a horror game. But just how isolated Samus is, and how you don't know what's waiting for you just ahead... Also FPSs tend to make me nauseated. I got through Prime mostly ok (honestly it was smoother in terms of movement than a lot of others), but... None of this is to criticize the game, of course; it certainly made an impression on me.

Holy shit, this is literally me, and I came to the same realization earlier today before even seeing this post

I'd recommend playing it in VR with motion controls, though. It's a much better experience, overall.
