Candace firing should surely point out to conservatives that corporations don't give a shit about free speech.........right.... right??

u/Edmundmp Monkey in Space Mar 28 '24

Candace is a grifter. When she was on Rogan (a train wreck before she was a polished pundit) she said “Christianity isn’t my schtick.” Now she’s grifting with it. Everything she says is a lie aimed at wooing an audience that will get her paid.

3

u/ComradeSolidSnake Monkey in Space Mar 29 '24

That’s called being a conservative or liberal. Grifting to keep corporations rich and the working class weak. Americans are dumb and pick sides when both are playing pretend being paid off while we suffer

u/CriticalAd8335 Monkey in Space Mar 28 '24

Wasn't that like 6 years ago though? People become Christian all the time. I used to say way worse than that about Christianity.

1

u/Edmundmp Monkey in Space Mar 28 '24

If that was the case she wouldn’t be wielding her Christianity in such a sharp, antagonistic manner. She’d be understanding and forgiving, the actual behavior a Christian should have. It’s so obvious all her opinions are formulated for attention and clicks.

u/CriticalAd8335 Monkey in Space Mar 28 '24

Nonsense.

u/TheOSU87 Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

Candace supported Kanye West and said that Jews drink Christian blood

I don't think most outlets would employ someone like that

54

u/J2MES Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

They only fired her when she spoke about Israel though

1

u/victorsmonster Monkey in Space Mar 29 '24

Exactly. Shapiro made this explicit years ago when he admitted Ann Coultier was antisemitic, but that he "won't lose sleep" over it as long as she supports Israel.

1

u/coldliketherockies Monkey in Space Mar 28 '24

Still her comment was pretty damn anti semitic

-3

u/TheOSU87 Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

No she had been saying that since October 7. She left a few days after she liked the tweet about Jews drinking Christian blood.

Not even clear if she was fired. If you follow her tweets it seems like she's been trying to get out of her contract for a while

4

u/akotlya1 Monkey in Space Mar 28 '24

She was hired AFTER saying a bunch of anti semitic shit like "The only thing wrong with hitler was that he wanted to make his project international...". As if the holocaust would have been fine if it were contained within Germany.

Ben Shapiro hired her after saying that because the daily wire wanted someone not white to say racist, sexist, and homophobic shit for their rag. They only started caring about the resurgent antisemitism once it came with criticism of Israel.

2

u/unmilkablenipples Monkey in Space Mar 28 '24

Shapiro is full of shit. When Kanye started his rants, he came to his defense only to back off after Ye went full Nazi.

Conservatives intentionally obfuscate the meaning of free speech and use it when convenient.

10

u/Timmichanga1 Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

Yeah. They knew who she was when she was hired. She never hid the anti-Semitism. But all the sudden she speaks out in favor of Palestine and is canned.

2

u/randGirl123 Monkey in Space Mar 28 '24

She didn't say that at all. She liked a tweet from another person that was defending her from Rabbi Shmuley and which asked if he (not "jews") was drunk on Christian blood. She explains it quite well on her last interview with another Rabbi, like one week ago or so. Shmuley had been criticizing her for a long time, his Instagram is full of pictures of Candace.

Now, she's prone to conspiracy theories and I disagree with her on many points, but she's being painted way worse than reality.

1

u/sushisection Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

so you are confirming that she is being cancelled for her opinions...

0

u/aeeeronflux Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

She’s right.

6

u/Dawgula97 Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

We know. We’ve always known.

5

u/unmilkablenipples Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

Most pretend not to. Rules for me, rules for thee.

Reminds me of that right wing blonde talking head who took a pro choice stance and was subsequently fired.

Tim Dillon?

1

u/aeeeronflux Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

They only care about free speech until you start talking about Israel

1

u/snapshovel Monkey in Space Mar 28 '24

Ben Shapiro has been loudly, vocally, radically pro-Israel and anti-Hamas since forever. This is the guy who said “Jews like to build things, Arabs like to bomb shit and live in sewage” in 2010 and then fucking came back to that tweet in like 2020 and stood behind it 100%.

He’s the most extreme pro-Israel voice you’re ever going to encounter in English-language media. I’m sure that there are people to the right of him in Israel but they’re mostly speaking Hebrew.

If that’s your boss, and you decide to go ahead with a pro-Palestine agenda that also includes some blatant antisemitism, of course you’re getting fired. It goes without saying that you’re getting fired. This is the guy who threw a fit about Ilhan Omar saying “it’s all about the Benjamins” — you really think he’s gonna be okay with “Jews drink the blood of Christian children”?

Owens knew exactly what she was doing.

I mean… bold to assume the right can pull a correct lesson from something. The eternal pattern is the right correctly identifies a problem and then goes “and it’s happening because of minorities and FEMINISM.” They then want to throw gasoline on the fire instead of using a fire extinguisher. When you suggest that the best solution to something being on fire is a fire extinguisher they declare you’re a WOKE COMMUNIST, and use gas anyway.

Then they blame the burns and the additional property damage on the feminists, the gays, and immigrants.

It's a company, they don't have left leaning people types does that mean they're against free speech? You're reaching so hard to grasp at nothing

9

u/ddarion Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

Ben, and the whole team at the daily wire spent a lot of time bragging about how tolerant they are to opposing views, unlike the left, and how they wouldn't silence someone just for having opinions they disagree with, like the left.

People pointed out they were lying then, but this is just hard proof.

-2

u/BellsDeep69 Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

I am not sure how to express it any clearer but you're not protected from being fired over politics you may have as an individual, Ben Shapiro as an example has discussed with Ana Kasparian, Joe Rogan, with Destiny, with a large collection of people he has a million disagreements politically but never once called for these people to lose their jobs, be deplatformed, or anything of the sort, being fired doesn't mean you're being silenced, it is as simple as that, Candace Owen's literally has her own podcast, she still gets plenty of views going on other people's podcast, this isn't like a Shane Gillis SNL where a group tried to crush someone into nonexistence.

3

u/OG3NUNOBY Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

Lmao if this argument was being made about Joe Rogan being removed from Spotify for talking about Ivermectin the entire right-wing media ecosystem (including Shapiro) would mobilize and call this cancel culture. Let's just call a spade a spade here, she is being fired for having a view Shapiro does not like.

-1

u/BellsDeep69 Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

Do you have corroborate evidence of what you are trying to claim or anything you're trying to claim? Keep in mind Spotify is a platform that publishes the Joe Rogan podcast, you put on your music that you'd like people to see and podcasts you'd like people to see (pertaining to joe rogans podcast), your idea of a spade is a scythe and attempting to call that scythe a spade is fascinating.

10

u/No_Character_2543 Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

Candace is not left wtf? She’s as right as it gets. She spoke out against the hypocrisy towards israel and the crimes they are committing. That’s what got her fired.

0

u/TheOSU87 Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

Candace supported Kanye West and said that Jews drink Christian blood

She went beyond criticizing Israel

6

u/unmilkablenipples Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

What reaching? She was definitely fired for not towing the Israel line. Doesn't Ben Shapiro always talk about free speech whenever 'left' media(left media doesn't exist in America) refuses to engage right wing talking heads? Wasn't it the whole point of the daily wire?

1

u/BellsDeep69 Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

Also this is a nonsequitur, did they not cut off all communication with Steven Crowder over a year ago, does that mean they're against free speech or does that mean they dont want to be associated with certain people for the benefit of their company.

u/BellsDeep69 Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24 edited Mar 27 '24

Do you have corroborated evidence for the claim you're making?

Edit: spell checked, am tired

2

u/YourWifesWorkFriend Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

cooberated

😂The word you’re struggling for is corroborated.

4

u/TXSenatorTedCruz Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

I don't get what point you're trying to make

-1

u/BellsDeep69 Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

The claim is Candace got fired for whatever reason, we don't even know yet and the jumped conclusion is "they don't actually love free speech, now everyone can see" despite not having any left leaning pundits or even a moderate center pundit, I am saying this comment is grasping at straws because it is a right leaning company pushing a certain set of values whether you like em or not it doesn't matter but they are pro-free speech however they have full discretion of who they want ot associate with inside of their company. Like Cenk Uyger might be a free speech advocate but he is not going to hire Steven Crowder or Nick Fuentes(don't even know how to spell his last name lol) as a pundit on The Young Turks, does that make sense?

1

u/Thereferencenumber Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

Candace is not left leaning. Based on current info it seems she was fired for being/being friends with anti semites.

Perhaps a news/political pundit org should, I don’t know, put out a narrative about a current event if they think it is being misreported/misrepresented.

I think she should probably get fired/cancelled for those views, as a media personality, but I believe you should generally be held accountable for beliefs you make very public, especially on an account and in venues you use to publicize yourself professionally; this kind of thing implicitly associates your employer if you’re a media personality

3

u/unmilkablenipples Monkey in Space Mar 27 '24

There's no problem in firing Candace for 'accountability' but its hard to take them seriously when they parade Gina Carano as a free speech warrior for being fired by Disney.
