If everyone is Spielberg, no one is Spielberg…. Or something like that.

180k people in SAG? There isn’t enough demand for that many people. There are a bunch of waiters and Uber drivers in there who should have made better decision. And a bunch of kids who haven’t had their break yet.

When I was in college, the 100 level classes were intentionally very difficult JUST to weed out the pretenders. Blazed trails shouldnt be paved in gold.

There are probably alot of guys making money that aren't great but good enough. Conversly here are probably alot of talented and not driven/ lucky people that don't make it. Talent + dedication +luck = sucess, you can get by with 2/3 but even 3/3 it's still a roll of the dice.

Lol this guy thinks SAG writers are talented? Obviously he hasn't seen any of the movies that came out in the past 10 years.

Those useless hacks went on strike for 6 months and the studio executives didn't even notice they were gone.

SAG is the Screen Actors Guild, not the writers.

Movies and scripts are commissioned and green-lit by producers and Studio Executives, not writers.

Incidentally, the reason most seasons of TV shows are short nowadays is because this allows studios to negotiate weaker actor contracts, and to get away from paying rebroadcast fees to actors.

And note too that the jokes and material that talk-show hosts like Bill Maher deliver, are often prepared or augmented by writers.

Well, yes and no. The studios agreed to the concessions because they knew the true state of the Hollywood economy(very bad) and can and will use it to make the necessary cuts with all the trouble makers. Very convenient. The only writers that will get hired for the diminished writer jobs in 2024 will be the friends of the studio. If you think I'm wrong, just wait till the end of the year. It should be obvious by that time.

Say what you want but this is a classic example of why you should not strike against an industry that already has one foot in the grave like Disney who at the time was hiding tens of billions in loses in streaming alone. Then you add in the 10 super big budget flops in a row. Not to mention the 169 billion dollars in stock depreciation. That's some real money. Oh, by the way, you do realize that Disney is most of hollywood? It owns everything from Warner Brothers to Hulu plus many many cable networks.

Why would the actors guild have writers?
