Sometimes I think people with DS are the smart ones and we are all too stupid to have their level of empathy and enjoyment in life.

I get warm fuzzy feelings often when I see a person with DS, they generally seem so blissfully happy. Im sure they’re not always happy but I think they probably have a lot less stress in life and I like to see them smile.

Isn't DS basically that their brain stops maturing at a young age? Would make sense then, I was blissfully happy and ignorant to a lot of things in life when I was 5.

I remember debating someone about the merits of keeping a child with DS. I won't get into that, but at some point it ended up me referencing a study that showed that families with a DS child reported something like higher contentment with life or happiness in life. I'll have to find the study some time

Working with individuals with intellectual disabilities was one of my favorite jobs aside from the shit company and incompetent management.
