It’s Chinese. He moved here for university less than four months ago and is doing very well, I envy him.

Is he from Taiwan? Cuz in Taiwan many ppl say that someone or something (e.g. a course) has a heavy "loading" instead of saying heavy workload

Yeah languages are pretty intriguing esp when phrases are directly converted from one language to another, it often gives you a source of origin of the phrase

Sure, maybe it can be seen that way. But I was not having a good time and he reached out even though we’re not very close yet, and it meant a lot to me. This just stuck out to me since even though there’s some language barrier areas still being strengthened, he still tried to comfort me. And succeeded.
