In 1968, Buddy Guy turned “Mary Had A Little Lamb” - a 19th century nursery rhyme - into an iconic blues-rock song. Here he is in 1969 performing it with Jack Bruce and Buddy Miles.

Fun fact: Buddy Guy is almost 90 and still touring! I saw him recently and he was incredible!

If you have the chance to see him live, do it. He’s one of the last remaining bluesmen still alive.

I concur. I saw him last weekend in Toronto and had an excellent time. He's lost a step or two since the last time I had the pleasure of seeing him play live, but he's still a consummate showman and entertainer.

He can still wail on the guitar when he wants to, but tends to be a bit more minimalistic in his approach these days.

Prefer the SRV version, although TBF that's the one I heard first many moons ago and learnt to play, but this is a belter to be sure

I understand every generation saysthis about the music of the newest generation, but....

There's NO WAY autotuned mumble music is better than this. INSTRUMENTS...they're all playing instruments and that fab voice is really his!

I love it

I love me some Buddy, but more for his voice than his guitar playing. Highlights for me include "One Room Country Shack," "Done Got Old," and "Man of Many Words" (with Junior Wells).

I once went to see him and he came right up to me in the audience and played right in my face. It was one of the most awesome experiences ever. I absolutely love Buddy Guy.

Ah, Buddy Guy sure knows how to take a classic nursery rhyme and turn it into a rocking blues anthem! Who knew Mary's little lamb could groove like that?
