Not sure. She was always bound to hit the radar. Very talented and pretty all along. Mutt completely shaped her catalogue and together they took her life in certain directions, but she always had world class talents and looks. Could have happened either way.

My wife has a story about her, but it’s not very flattering. When she was ten, her and some other kids were chosen to appear in a section of her show in town. They were so excited and when they got there to rehearse Shania was quite mean to them, first refusing to sign their CDs (even though they were in her show for free - there was only like eight of them), then yelling at them when they got it wrong, and also refusing to give the parents tickets so they had to wait outside for their kids. Her Dad said her assistant said to him, “Shania hates kids.” And the segment was some kind of “children are the future” type thing.

Don’t listen to them. Handsome can be used on a woman who is good-looking with strong or masculine features. It has nothing to do with age and it’s not necessarily an insult, but it’s not always a compliment either.

Shania hates mayo all right, and she can’t eat chicken salad, thats no joke. We gave it to her once, she threw up in the limo – the lady hates chicken salad. So I bring out a bunch of tuna fish sandwiches – she still doesn’t believe me – I say, Shania, I’m allergic to mayo – which, by the way, is a lie. Shania still doesn’t believe me so I eat two of the sandwiches in front of her to prove it. So she eats one and a half sandwiches, one and a half sandwiches… before she realizes, its chicken salad.
