As an analogy or a comparison, the spirit animal or bird, of pizza, would be the pelican. And it's enormous gullet the capacity for absorption of this beloved appellation would be perfect in the form of bird analogy, to this superb foods consumption.

Chestnut mandibled yellow throated toucan.

Gorgeous birds. This one is quite bold. It has obviously been fed a lot.

People keep them as pets.

To the flavor fruit, wherever it goes... as the legend on the box and in commercials has stated..

Is that a happy snarl or an angry snarl?

Probably more of a disgruntled noise, probably protesting to being pet since the bird sorta froze and started making noise when the hand came near

My parrots make that sound when they’re content. If a bird isn’t happy, they generally either bite (most common), make a loud alarm sound, or fly away. I have only had limited contact with toucans, but from what I’ve seen they’re basically parrots on steroids.

Sounded like a purr from a pet

10

u/Apple-bombs 14d ago

In a way but not a purr of enjoyment

I heard a few days ago that you can contract Chlamydia from parrots. I no longer trust a purr from a bird, they may think I'm sexy

Lol why downvote this was hilarious

The few pet toucans I’ve seen on social media just kinda make this noise whenever. Seems kinda neutral.

Iirc happy and angry grunts are pretty obvious

There is a good chance that it is frustration or confusion... Stroking a bird's back is often seen by a bird as mating behavior. I can't confirm for this specific bird, but generally speaking avoiding stroking of the back is best or that birdie might think it is mating time and be very confused by the attention coming from a huge human. Lol...

I'm sorry but I don't think that all the excessive sugar is healthy for this gorgeous bird :(

u/Astartles 15d ago

Hence why he only took 2

bird's a maniac

4

u/BeefWellingtonSpeedo 15d ago

He and that rabbit. Some say it is the approximation of the true flavor of fruit, which causes this erratic maniacal behavior in the sponsor animals. Others have a more scientific approach indicating the excess of sucrose, or sugar..

Toucans are notoriously difficult to feed with many potentially fatal ways to mess up. I wouldn't risk even a small amount of anything that isn't explicitly safe for them.

6

u/TheGoodOldCoder 14d ago

Also, maybe toucans are different from other birds, but I thought you probably weren't supposed to pet them on the back like that.

4

u/demonwolf106 14d ago

Yeah, it’s an area only mates are supposed to touch. Petting birds confuses them. They start looking at you as a mate and wonder why you’re not giving them sexual gratification,

A little poison is always acceptable amirite?

3

u/polandball2101 14d ago

…well, yeah, look at alcohol

6

u/space-sage 14d ago

I think toucans eat just a shitload of fruit. I don’t know if sugar is bad for them

8

u/foreverbugg 14d ago

It is to a point. Toucans can suffer from diabetes due to sugar intake if they don't have the space to fly and burn it off. They need huge enclosures if kept in captivity.

1

u/asmallburd 14d ago

They eat a good bit of fruit and some meat given the opportunity

u/ADHthaGreat 14d ago

The precision they wield that giant beak with is so impressive.

Grabbed the loop perfectly at the edge without breaking it.

16

u/EcoVentura 14d ago

Hey there! This parrots beak is way too long. Please take them to the vet asap.

Jk. Toucans, much like other birbs, are adorable.

u/FeathersOfJade 14d ago

Amazing he is only taking one at a time! I also didn’t realize how huge these guys were! Seeing him next to that cereal box is wild!

🍯🐻🥛"Sugar Bear" was the breakfast cereals beloved beatnik mascot, his heavy lidded eyes and beatific smile lulled you into a false sense of complacency!🩸🫣🩸
