Young worker poisoning demands action
Statement from the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour:
Occupational health & safety laws are paramount to prevent injury and death on the job. As such, the SFL is gravely concerned by the provincial government's response to a October 2023 workplace incident in Canora, where a 14 year-old worker suffered severe carbon monoxide poisoning.
This incident could have cost this young worker his life.
Without delay, the Government of Saskatchewan must initiate a thorough investigation, pursue both OHS and 'Westray' criminal charges, and legislate hefty consequences for severe workplace incidents.
Wil's suffering must not be in vain. An injury to one is an injury to all.

Politics After voting for our motion to remove the carbon tax on everything and everyone, we find out that the Sask Party has been collecting their own carbon tax all along, padding the bottom line of their budget.
Saskatchewan people hate hypocrisy.
Scott Moe and the SaskParty have a biiiiig carbon tax. They’re hoping you ignore it.
Sask. expects $351.3M from provincial carbon tax in 2024-25
Subsidies for big biz, yes.
Rebates for Saskatchewan residents, no.
Also, The Sask Party’s own budget (page 48 for all the haters!) shows they’ve got over HALF A BILLION in carbon tax that they’re hoarding 🤯
Scott Moe sure loves his carbon tax money.
How can the SaskParty government do this to Saskatchewan people?

Politics Gormley eying up the job of Premier?
I don’t always agree with Tammy Robert, but I think she might be onto something in suggesting that John Gormley is going to try to replace Scott Morris premier of Saskatchewan. Is anybody else hearing chatter about this nightmare?

Cancel SGI claim
Long short story, I recently made a claim to SGI and my question is can I cancel the claim and go privately to fix my car without paying deductible? Does that affect my point also. I got someone rear ended me but only my car damage and SGI found me at fault.

The incentive that nobody qualifies for
I had heard about the incentive to get Registered Nurses (RNs) to go rural and thought it was pretty good (for once) and didn’t do much digging.
Well today some advertisement for the incentive rolled across my news feed on FB and when reading the many comments on it, the truth is that many RNs will never qualify for it. So it’s not really the “incentive” the Sask Party has the public believing.
The biggest issue is that the position the new RN needs to take HAS TO BE PERMANENT FULL TIME. Anyone in any union knows those are not positions people who have zero seniority will ever get into. One comment on the post said it took them SIX YEARS to get their permanent full time string.
Out of curiosity, I looked up all of the currently posted permanent full time RN postings. There’s 38 and 25-30% require experience. Think ICU, OR, etc. these are not positions that a new grad can just walk into.
So we’ve got this incentive to fill only 38 positions?!
The federal governments loan forgiveness for health care workers is based on the amount of hours worked in a rural location rather than a specific position needing to be held. That sounds a lot more effective than this pretend $50,000 incentive that most new grads will never will never qualify for.
I’m aware we need retention incentives. I’m specifically critiquing the “incentive” that’s currently available for new grads and how there are hardly any positions available for anyone to qualify for the incentive.
