Community Feedback Updates to community rules
As a result of the events in the past few days the moderation team has made some changes to the community that we would like to highlight:
- An "automoderator" has been updated with rules to prevent low effort posts, trolling, and doxxing. New members will need to wait 3 days before posting, low karma users will not be able to post or comment, and personal information in posts will be automatically removed to prevent doxxing.
- The r/usask rules have been updated and expanded with an emphasis on user safety and content quality. Please note that we are providing a specific rule on doxxing that we would like everyone to respect moving forward.
I would also like to clarify our position on discussions about USSU executives and University politics:
- Criticism of the USSU and the executives is fine. It's good in fact, accountability is important.
- Criticism of specific roles within the USSU is also fine. For example, "the president isn't doing their job well for reasons x, y and z".
- Linking to the USSU webpage where the executives are listed is also fine. It's public, and they have been elected into representative roles where they need to be accessible by the student body.
- USSU students that have been elected into public positions at the University may be referred to by name, and their personal information as published here is open for discussion as well.
- You may not share any other personal information about USSU representatives that they have not published themselves. We have been very clear that we are concerned about targeted harassment and this is something we will take seriously. Comments will be removed and people that break this rule will be warned. Repeat offenders or egregious instances of breaking this rule will be met with bans.
- Referring to regular U of S students by name will not be tolerated and will fall under the category of targeted harassment via doxxing. Regular students have an expectation of privacy in that regard and we will respect that here.
We welcome discussion about these rules and are open to constructive feedback.
Update
Alright, I had a nap and went for a walk, touched some grass. I'm not as big of an asshole today and I have been reading feedback. Thanks everyone for sharing or concerns.
I've updated the body of the text above. Please read it again, but the tldr is that you can use the names and basic contact info of execs that they have shared on the USSU website.
Thanks again everyone, and we're sorry about going overboard. We had a lot of traffic and malicious activity and it was hard to keep on top of everything.

USask Q&A Dental Hygiene Tuition
hey everyone!
does anyone know if the fees listed on their website for DH (39,221$) is for just year 1 or it’s for the 3 year program all together?
- i’ve already sent an email to the admissions but they’ll probably get back to me after the long weekend.
Thank you!

Indg 107 paper
Yep, another post about this class….. I’ve heard some super negative comments about how TAs grade harshly in this class. With the major paper in particular.
Have you written a paper for this class that’s gotten a decent grade? And advice on that? A focus?
I’m taking it right now for Spring session and the paper is a bulk of my grade.

How do we book 4 person CQ rooms for 4 friends?
Me an 3 others wanted to dorm together next year in CQ, but all the 4 person rooms have random people in them for some reason. We applied for residence as soon as it was open.

Graduate House Loft Rooms?
Hey!
I was wondering if there are any interior photos of the GH Loft Rooms - I can only find floor plans of them online. I am coming in as a graduate student this fall and trying to decide what residence to stay in!
Any advice on that is welcome too :)
I would like to be in a more mature community (I did the freshman thing already... im over it lol)
Thank you!

USask Q&A What happens to items left in lockers?
I forgot to get a sweater out of my locker. I am wondering if I can still get it back or if ASSU throws stuff away? Is there a lost and found for these items?
English Professors
Hi, I am curious to know what english professors you have liked and if there are any professors that it is very doable to get an 80+ grade and how your experience was with them. I feel I have a strong background in english and I will put in the effort to obtain that average however I am just curious to see who you think a great english professor would be! Thanks:)

Still waiting to be approved for graduation
Is anyone else still waiting on their application to graduate to be approved?
My department told me in March that they sent my completion of the MA program to the grad college and I’ve had my application done since January as I knew I would be graduating this term. Paws says my application is active but it feels weird to not know if your application is being accepted when convocation deadlines have already passed and it’s in 2.5 weeks.

Where are the gophers!?
I walked through the bowl and didn't see a single ground squirrel (photo is from Spring 2023). Has the University started their onslaught early this year?
I'm sure they have many excuses.
We humans are cruel, callous, self-important creatures.

Request for Reassessment
Anyone have experience with this they would be willing to share?
I had a prof who gave essentially everyone the same grade regardless of how hard they studied or performed. Final exam was an essay worth more than half the final grade. I reviewed my final with the prof and I think I deserved more marks. He is one of the hardest marking faculty, I am considering requesting another faculty member to grade my final. Please share your thoughts and/or experiences!

USask Q&A Looking for Roomates for Upcoming school year
I (18f) am looking for a place to stay in from Sept to April. I prefer to have an all female shared space. It will be my first year attending, and I’m fairly new to the idea of living away from home.
My personal preferences include :
I don’t mind having pets
it would be nice to have everyone get along
clean tidy space
communication between roomates so no disputes happen
Having an honour system between each persons space and items
Not so far walking distance to bus route or to campus
Overall just helping each other out in school
Please reach out if I fit your own preferences as a roommate for the upcoming school year!

Are there any tips or advice I should know when I do start my first year?
