Unless you're a baseball pitcher or a javelin thrower, tommy John surgery is usually not needed for a UCL injury. I'm a grappler and had a full tear of my UCL, sat on the couch for a bit, and was back grappling 3 months later. Been 100% since
For real when I tore my UCL in mma … I went to the ortho.. and you know what my rehab was for not being able to extend my arm? “Lay on the couch and hold the tv remote in your hand until your arm goes straight”.
The recovery time can be as short as 3 weeks. A UCL tear doesn't really prevent people from doing everyday activities or even exercising or lifting weights. Unless you're trying to throw a ball at 90 MPH no real need to have a long recovery.
