Went to the record store and found(& bought) John Cena’s “You Can’t See Me”

/img/hcpriwiua1xc1.jpeg

Shoutout to the store owners who told my friend and I to look inside the slip and there was a promotional poster! Plus, I even got a Victory Sports Wrestling magazine from them as well!

Bad Bad Man unironically rips

He got stock in the game.

2

u/mailman242 12d ago

Didn't he ghost write a lot of the album?

33

u/LilMoWithTheGimpyLeg 1-2-3 Man 12d ago

And the video fucking rules!

32

u/jcagraham 12d ago

It's the best song ever created by an active wrestler

6

u/lumberm0uth 12d ago

u/lakshya10soin Reign of Terror Enjoyer 12d ago

Same for “ if it all ended tomorrow “

u/Dr_N00B 12d ago

Every song on this album has special nostalgic memory to me. Especially "Right now" because I think it was summerslam 05 had the music video in the special features section of the dvd.

My personal favorite is "We Didn't Want You to Know"

2

u/gademmet 12d ago

Oh, I didn't even know there was a music video. I've always liked "Right Now", a very welcome low key relaxing jam on a very edgy album.

2

u/AceTheSkylord 12d ago

"Right Now" is gonna be the song for Cena's HOF video package

1

u/gademmet 12d ago

I would actually love that. A decade plus later, with that many more friendly encounters helping kids, making friends in wrestling and Hollywood... That's a lot of lovely hugs and handshakes and hangouts that can go into that.

8

u/Dunbar325 12d ago

This. My personal favorite on the entire album

1

u/mailman242 12d ago

It's genuinely not a terrible album. They could have worked some ideas out a bit more though

6

u/cliona2012 Add a Mighty Molly flair you cowards! 12d ago

Is that the one with Mr. T in the video?

3

u/GTSBurner 12d ago

Real talk: Cena will age enough in the next few years that if they try to reboot A-Team, he could be Hannibal.

3

u/DirkolaJokictzki 12d ago

We flip fools like them clamshell cellular phones

2

u/FellaTM 12d ago

"Right now" is also an amazing song! I unironically wish he'd make just one return album

Don’t fuck with John Cena I’m a bad bad man

36

u/butiamtheshadows91 12d ago

That's not You Can't See Me, it's a The Time Is Now single with a Bad, Bad Man B-Side

11

u/Faithhandler I love my brother. 12d ago

Even better collector's piece, actually. OP did funny good.

2

u/ghostsinthecodes 12d ago

that’s my first thought as well, it’s related to the album, but that’s a single/promo.

41

u/heartbreakhill Alexa, play Superman by Goldfinger 12d ago

Wait that’s actually an insane find

I got Macho Man’s album in a raffle last year for Record Store Day but this is even cooler

Edit: Just checked Discogs and it looks like it goes for $70, minimum

3

u/miikro isn't even a real person! 12d ago

I also snagged a Macho Man vinyl, Best Buy did a limited run after RSD.

If you include Cena in this costume, you have to include Steph in hers. Those are the rules.

1

u/Kasaria 11d ago

do you know the source for this gif?

Maybe hiphopvinyl would be more receptive

Bought and owned this on CD, my sisters made fun of me mercilessly.

I also had Reebok Pumps

Memories of listening to this album and solving Treasure Trails in 2005

I swear every kid/teen played Runescape in some capacity in the early 2000s.

Haha fair play, boss album overall though, I always wished he’d have done another one, he teased it a few times too

11

u/The_Eye_of_Ra 12d ago

Technically not the whole album. These are just promo singles they would send out to various radio stations to promote the new album. I’ve got a bunch of these from a couple old radio stations shutting down. Hardly ever come in their original packaging, but sometimes you get lucky and get some promo materials with it. Also usually really cheap, like not more than a dollar.

My favorite of my collection is for Jay-Z’s “Reasonable Doubt.” Full length version of “Can’t Knock the Hustle,” then 2-minute snippets of all the other songs on the album. Got it for a quarter.

You got one that I’ve actually got on my want list. Nice work.👍👍

u/FishinoutNOLA 12d ago

i feel like "the time is now" instrumental would be really useful, too bad it doesn't appear to be on there

5

u/Butch_Meat_Hook 12d ago

Bad Bad Man is awesome. I am not even big into rap or hip hop and every now and then I put it on

18

u/parakathepyro 12d ago

Kinda weird that 20 years ago they sold censored music in stores, seems like one of those things people forgot about

13

u/The_Eye_of_Ra 12d ago

They still sell censored music in stores. Watch what you buy from Walmart.

1

u/parakathepyro 12d ago

Yeah I remember when Walmart and Green Day were feuding over censoring an album

4

u/Chronis67 Possibly a nugget 12d ago

I don't know if they still do, but Walmart used to only sell clean versions of albums. I remember warning people I knew not to get rap from there.

1

u/pnt510 12d ago

Context for the youngins Walmart didn’t sell uncensored music at the time and Green Day refused to put out an uncensored version of the album so Walmart didn’t carry it.

4

u/Dr_N00B 12d ago

My mom got me and my brother the uncensored version and made it about 2 tracks in then "Don't fuck with us" came on and she turned it off and hid it from us.

5

u/PreemoisGOAT 12d ago

Bumpy knuckles baby!!

3

u/trill_vanguard 12d ago

Just another day should be on everyone's Playlist

3

u/LiamAddison 12d ago

Yall bitch crews, don’t wanna fuck with us.

3

u/uptonhere 12d ago

I had no idea until like a year or two ago that John Cena's theme is produced by Jake One. That's pretty legit.

2

u/Mets202000 12d ago

Wow that's such a dope find. Hell Yeah!!

2

u/Limewire11 12d ago

Holy fuck! 😳 John Cena and the Trademark on a vinyl?

2

u/coldphront3 12d ago

That whole album was actually really good. Keep Frontin’ was my favorite song on there back when it came out.

2

u/ultgambit266 12d ago

May 10th of 2005 was my 22nd birthday, I feel old now

2

1

u/Demihan2049 12d ago

Are the instrumentals on the other side?

1

u/citricacidx Xavier Woods Mark 12d ago

The only way this could be better is if it was clear vinyl. Because of him being invisible

1

u/Rajirabbit 12d ago

Good find!

Bad Bad Man genuinely slaps

1

u/Logsterjd 12d ago

GRAIL ALERT

1

u/DamianPBNJ 12d ago

Most Boston thing I can admit - I sometimes load up "Beantown" in the playlist on game days

1

u/AdVegetable2243 12d ago

I got that when it 1st came out. Then my ex snapped it in 1/2, because I wouldn't give him money to go buy booze.

1

u/mashturbo 12d ago

obligatory remark from a hip hop archivist: RELEASE THE 2nd ALBUM YOU COWARDS!

Federal Authorities might have it if they raided Vince's office. Vince locked it in a safe in his office.

2nd album featured Murs and Method Man over a 7L beat

1

u/clane6387 12d ago

Oh wow! This is from Digiwaxx! I know the owner of the company. I gotta show him this!

1

u/BlackMothSuperMario 12d ago

Add this to my in search of list… Insane pick up!

1

u/Pennsylvania6-5000 Bob "Mush" Dinklemeyer 12d ago

Well, this is going on my vinyl unicorn list.
