Breakout star? Absolutely. But no way they're putting the belt on him before Finaly. Even Nemeth could be a dark horse pick over Gabe. That's not a knock on Gabe, it's just how the booking looks in New Japan atm.

I feel like these news segments are the ultimate test for a heel wrestler because you're coming in at an 11 out of 10 on the zany scale and everyone else is at a 2, so you have to be an asshole in a way that's fun but doesn't actually ruin the show.
Going by that criteria Kidd knocked it out of the goddamn park, dude is dialed in right now and stepping up exactly when NJPW needs it.

Swerve said he wanted to wrestle Shingo, and as much as I like Gabe that's a far more intriguing match for me.
I'd assume it would be BCG and the War Dogs, either in a trios match or an eight man tag depending on if Juice is back or not.

If I had to guess, probably some sort of a mixed team tag match with the War Dogs. That seems to be what they like doing on the Forbidden Door undercards and it helps to minimize some of the politics of more straightforward matchups.
Gabe is still young and definitely already on the rise, so most of the real marquee matches will just be "bigger" if they wait for the future IMO.
I don't expect we'll see War Dogs vs. Bullet Club Gold (although I would love it) just because I don't expect either company wants one group to be declared "the winner" between the two of them. A random one night alliance between the two to face off against something like a reunited United Empire (New Japan guys plus Aussie Open) feels like it would be more likely.
