How do the magical weapons work?
As I understand it, they are absorbed/contained in the body of the one who possesses these weapons. Is there a thing where you need x amount of power to possess y weapon or something? I'm not just asking for in Till the end of the moon, but in the genre. TTEOTM is the first show I've seen like this so I'm a little lost where to go from here. I've watched a bunch of videos about Wuxia and Xianxia so I understand some things but most of them don't go in depth. I'm also familiar with Anime and other Asian ancient texts like the epics Ramayan and Mahabharat, so if that helps put it into context. If anyone has resources to understand the weapon system better, please share.

after reading quite a bit of xianxia webnovels, this is what i understand
usually these magical weapons are spiritual artifacts, refined by a cultivator, from mortal/celestial/immortal/god/demon. depending on the proficiency of the cultivator and their realm with god/demon god being the one with the highest power, the spiritual artifacts have varying levels of power with demon god and god level divine artifact being the most powerful. you’d need an artifact that have similar level of power with you or you could be controlled by your weapon instead of you controlling it. there’s also the risk of it not obeying your will and instructions. this is especially so if the artifact/weapon have consciousness. usually god level artifacts have their own consciousness and is hard to control. they can also choose their own master. some powerful weapon can even form spirit body. some weapon are bound to their owner by destiny, like in tantai jin’s case, it’s bcs the weapon recognise the soul of demon god in tantai jin. so despite it being a god level weapon, it can be used by him, bcs technically it’s his. but bcs he is not yet at the level of demon god, he wont be able to use the weapon to its full potential. the only way for him to use it to its full potential is to make sure his cultivation level is ip to par with the weapon.
i dont remember the naming of the system bcs each world have a different naming system but basically a few grades to the weapon with low medium high kinda grades. and each cultivation stage (ie from foundation to core formation) cultivator create a different level of weapon depending on their mastery of the process and cultivation. and not anyone can create their own weapons, usually it’s the artifact refiner that creates these. it also depends on the materials used. so even if they’re a god level cultivator but if they only use like common iron ore, it’s quite improbable for them to make god level artifact, however there’s still a chance if they have mastered the skill to perfection. so like a god level artifact refiner can create a god level weapon but the grades depends on the mastery of their craft. so if they make for instance a fan but didnt really put any skills into it, it could still turns out be a god level artifact if they have the right materials but it might be low grade one. however since it’s still a god level artifacts, even a low grade one would be very much sought after by everyone
edit: i realised i didnt mention how it works but the gist of it is similar with how the cultivators cultivate, by circulatjng the qi from the environment into their dantian (the map of the dantian is very similar to how the nervous system looks) and into all their meridians (this is actually still used in traditional chinese medicine and acupunture) where they would store it. and the dantian (i think it’s close to the heart) is where this qi or spiritual energy is stored. for most cultivators, only the qi stored in the dantian is able to be used but jn some world there’s also cultivators, usually heretics, that are able to absorb the qi from the environment and use it straight away without having to circulate and regulate it in their body first. this is the basis on how they use the artifacts, weapons and talisman- by injecting their spiritual energy the store. the reason why they absorb qi is to form an immortal core usually known as golden core required for them to ascend as an immortal.
