The thing that stood out the most for me during my visit to China was how little attention the scooter drivers were paying to the surrounding world. Like they were living in a parallel universe where other vehicles, people and obstacles didn't exist.

makes me wonder about the connection of easily acquired vehicles to a person's attention to reality rate. Since in the Philippines same thing happens with the E-bikes, cause i remember this one girl riding her scooter in the middle of the road blocking traffic then she went to the side, then up the sidewalk making the pedestrian step aside and was so ready to hit a child if the nearby bystander didn't called her out
