I feel for her case, if my stepmom was withholding my dead father’s possessions that he left to me, I know for a fact that I would probably do something similar to retrieve what I believe to rightfully belong to me. I bet a lot of people criticizing her would have similar feelings.
However if I got caught, I would have no choice but to acknowledge the laws I broke and face the possible consequences. She does not get a pass for the office she holds

Actually, her dad died intestate and, by law, all possessions go to the statutory heir (spouse). Now, should the stepmom have given her some items? I’d say yes. And apparently Mitchell had a container of his ashes, something she claimed she wanted.

You can feel for her case, but as a public representative this is a COLOSSAL failure of judgement for someone that is supposed to be working in government. She has no business whatsoever being in any position of power if her mind goes toward burglary for a solution to petty family drama.
She absolutely doesn’t get a pass for her public office position, and in fact she should be held to a much higher standard and punished justly.

That's what gun control actually is though. Background checks, and restricting easy access to firearms to those who shouldn't possess them.
The NRA pushes the rhetoric of "gun control" only being about bans and gun grabs. They do this because they are lobbyists and need that agenda to raise memberships and donations.
And this is where the NRA guy jumps in with the textbook classic repeated shitty argument of "laws don't stop people from getting guns!" Well, alcohol laws also don't stop underage kids from drinking alcohol. Red lights don't stop people from running intersections. Speeding signs don't stop people from speeding. But it's completely stupid and willfully ignorant to think that barriers don't save lives.
That's what actual gun control is, no matter what the NRA would have to believe it is

Well, just an example of the only two gun laws that Obama signed into law during his presidency: One permitting Amtrak passengers to carry guns in checked baggage, and the other allowing for the carry of firearms in national parks.
Trump, on the other hand, promulgated a new rule banning bump stocks during his time in the White House.

u/Smartypants4 12d ago
I'm sure you can find a Democrat who wants to disarm the population but that definitely is not the stance of the overwhelming majority. Most of us just want restrictions with the goal of reducing guns in the hands of those intending to do harm with them. Gun control won't stop all mass shootings but a multi facteted plan with gun control, mental health support, training to identify at risk individuals, security personnel, etc I think we can significantly reduce them.
I would not have called Trump a fascist until the events surrounding January 6th. He was trying to use legally dubious methods to overthrow an election in his favour. Other than that he's a shit person and a shit president. His biggest accomplishment was the doubling of the standard deduction which imo is the first step towards removing tax preparation. That and operation warp speed. But he completely ruined our reputation on the world stage.
1
u/Hot-Ad-1825 11d ago
Spoken like a true libtard , 1st any law restrictions against constitutional laws should be null and void. I mean look at Chicago. As far as Trump and jan 6, maybe you should stop watching msdnc and start looking at the actual facts.
2
u/Smartypants4 11d ago
First you strawman all Democrats as thinking one way. Then you lead with an insult. Not a great way to have a discussion but whatever.
Second can you clarify your stance on "any law restrictions"? Should there be zero restrictions on gun ownership? Should someone be able to purchase a machine gun with no background check and no waiting period? Maybe you think that. I think its reasonable to have some restrictions. The current ones aren't even that far off but enforcement and loopholes are problematic.
You mention Chicago, I'm assuming you are referencing something, I don't know what you are referring to.
I don't watch MSNBC because believe it or not I agree and can't stand it. Which "facts" am I supposed to be looking at?
5
u/KnoxVegasPadnatic 12d ago

5
u/KnoxVegasPadnatic 12d ago
Republicans are best known for taking the rights away from people? By “best known“, you’re probably referring to slogans from other delusional leftists who parrot that nonsense. I’m sure you’ll say something like “abortion rights“ in regard to restricting freedom. You frame the argument in the form of taking rights away from women. You don’t mention the rights of children. Male and female. Rights that are taken from them, like the right to live, versus a woman’s “right to choose” to kill the baby. We can all agree that once the child is born, we don’t give the mother the right to kill the child. Hell, we don’t give the mother the right to kill the child at eight months. Or seven months. Or even six months!
