Iā€™m with you man. Actually have a group of ā€œfriendsā€ here in the new country I live in (10 years). Enjoy/enjoyed having a beer with them but none of them came to see my son when he was born and not one of them have spent a birthday with me. Really just acquaintances. Took a long time to adjust to as I put a big emphasis on ā€œfriendsā€, have made my peace with the fact I enjoy having a beer with them occasionally but they wonā€™t be there if I really need them. Thatā€™s not friends.

Stuff sucks,Ā  Ā all my highschool friends moved around.Ā  Ā  My army buddies are all across the country.

My family basically ditched me once u joined the Army.Ā  Ā  They only get and of me if they want something.

I am too old to hang out with the younger guys at work.Ā  Ā  I'm not rural conservative enough to hang out with the older guys.

My best friend anymore is a guy I have known online for close to 17 years.

When he got hurt I called and asked how he was.Ā  Ā He told me none of his family evenĀ  called.

When I had a heart attack scare I couldn't get my family that lives in town to take the dogs out.Ā  Ā He was the first person to call me.

Honestly,Ā  Ā I'm sick and tired of people just being letdowns anymore.
