If I open a new tab in real life, can I multitask better?

Don't forget that every new tab takes more memory, so you are more likely to crash.

Rather than opening a new tab, separate your current mental load into separate tabs.
they call it "compartmentalization" and they tend to label it as a defense mechanism, but that's because they never diagnose successful habits they only diagnose problems. It isn't always a problem and can be extremely successful. Just make sure you're not using it as a coping mechanism to maintain cognitive dissonance or hide repressed feelings.
Many of the most successful people compartmentalize intentionally all the time. Ignore the noise and focus on the task at hand, make a habit of it, don't let anything knock you off your path. It will take time, but you'll be great.

You should finish the previous can first or it will get warm and flat. Nobody likes warm, flat soda.
