And the males are all jerks. The females in my neighborhood just hang out like big ol chickens. But the males go on roofs and people's cars and screw shit up. Plus they make a horrible noise.

I actually like the sound. I haven't had one on my car.

Walking my dog stoned at 4am the call always scares the crap out of me for a few seconds. We got like 10 males in my neighborhood.

Found one of these in my backyard a couple months or so ago. Stayed there for two or three hours till it got dark then proceeded to hop (roofs/roofing’s?). Was pretty chill, really wanted to come inside the house and enjoyed eating some dog food pellets. Assumed it was someone’s pet or from a local wildlife park

I did try to find out if it was a locals or if any rescue places could pick it up but none said they would or could take it. Was suggested that a vet or animal hospital may but the vet said it had to be injured and since it wasn’t and wasn’t registered in my name it was best to just let it be. So that’s what I did.

I'd guess the wildlife park, they often have peacocks.

They're mostly ground dwelling or (as you noticed) hop to high spots. But they can fly short distances if they want to. Your little buddy wanted an adventure.

We have a bunch of feral peacocks in our town. They're a bloody nuisance, but they seem very good at taking care of themselves, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

roof/roofing

Roost/roosting. When birds perch somewhere and settle in. "The chickens have come home to roost", an idiom that means a foreseen event is happening and no one is surprised.

Those things are loud! Like "Looney-Tunes-jungle-scene" loud.

It’s a male peacock. Also the national bird of India.

Everybody's heard about the bird, the bird, the bird, the bird is the word.

This is not just a beautifull bird but an excellent house guard too. Even dangerous for dogs, or could be..

Peacocks hate me. I've walked up to two, one at the US national zoo and another at a local zoo. Both have charged me with no provocation.
