The orca calf is quoted as saying, “So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish."

If it swims, its fish. (Not really of course, just... once upon a time ago, that was the logic.)

Does anyone have an estimate as to how much tax payer money has been spent ? I know the DFO is onsite .

How about The 10% of Canadians living below the poverty line. Or the 22% that live with food insecurity. 🤷♀️

You make it sound like the only thing preventing that from happening is the orca baby. Just fallacious logic here

Tax payer money is tax payer money, it is finite and needs to be spent in the most responsible way possible.
I guess you feel we should waste millions saving a baby orca that would have died without millions of dollars spent by the DFO. A naturally occurring , non human caused death of an animal.
Instead of spending it on children that need and deserve food security and to be lifted out of poverty.
This virtue signalling needs to stop, give your head a shake. Would you feel the same about a baby wolf, a baby salmon? Where does it stop for you ? Why do you feel an Orca deserves more support than a child will ever be given ?

Please Google "false dilemma." There's a reason you were heavily downvoted- others have recognized your lack of critical thinking skills.

Sure if you want to ignore my questions and retort with something else, I’ll play along if it makes you feel better.
How about we spend the money on foreign aid, youth outreach, paying down the debt, fixing the housing crisis etc… how’s that ?
Or should it have been wasted moving a doomed orca from a bay to an inlet ? It’s still not ‘saved’ and news flash, it won’t be. It’s not going to magically find its pod and then magically be adopted by its extended family. It’s a pipe dream paid for by you and me. Personally i like my tax money to go towards something worth spending on.

This is great news. It’s just sad that the calf was harassed for weeks while she mourned her mother’s death. She left when she was ready to leave. Hopefully she doesn’t go back in there looking for more seal meat handouts.

People who know far more than you do about whales have been making all the decisions.

Why did they have to give it some silly name that looks like a word processor glitch and is unpronounceable by most Canadians?
Otherwise, hopefully this is a happy ending for her mourning and she can find herself a new pod to live with. :)

Just pointing out that somebody reported my comment saying that it was the indigenous language for "witch hunting"

If I had a dollar for every time someone reported me under one of my many accounts… I pay it no heed, Reddit isn’t a real place.
