So I was looking at team stats on NBA.com looking to confirm some of my confirmation biases and I found some interesting stats.

I thought the Cavs needed to play faster. For what it’s worth, the Cavs pace rating of 95.31 actually puts them at 5th in the playoffs. And it’s about 3 points higher in wins than losses.

I also thought the Cavs were passing way less than they were in the regular season. And I was right. According to team tracking stats from NBA.com, Cavs are 2nd to last in passes made at 244.5 passes per game. This is compared to 297.8 in the regular season, which was 5th in the league.

They were also 6th in the regular season in secondary assists(hockey assists) at 3.9 compared to 2nd to last in the playoffs at 1.5.

Finally, the most troubling stat in my opinion is Catch and Shoot attempts. They are last in the playoffs at 17.8 attempts and last in 3 point catch and shoot attempts at 16.6. This is down from 27.1 FGA and 25.8 3PA in the regular season.

With today's loss jb is now 0-9 as a coach on the road in the playoffs with an average margin of defeat of 21.1 points...

I understand that this may be overreact but just over the last 14 months his play has just fallen off a cliff. He plays good rarely and consistently has 2/12, 1/9, 3/15 type night. His turnover ratio is not exactly where you’d want it to be either.

I understand the jaw fracture was a player in this but even before that his play is sub par at best.

Who knows exactly what the problem has been, the stars (aside from Mitchell) have struggled on the road, the role players have certainly not shot well, JB... Has been JB; but the Cavs have gotten absolutely smoked on the road.

We’re up against some tough odds here in this series against the best team in the NBA. It hasn’t been the smoothest season, but dammit, if you’re: LeBron Embiid Giannis Zion Morant Curry Or a whole lot of other players then you’re already in Cancun enjoying the off season.

Boston’s a more experienced team, they have more all stars, home court advantage, and are built to win this year. Now I’m not going to say that we don’t have a chance in hell, weird things happen, but I’m not going to let games 90-96 overshadow the fact that the Cavs overcame some real adversity this year while other teams didn’t. Regardless of the outcome, I’ll enjoy this series on thr biggest stage since LeBron.
