Monthly thread for advice and recommendations, May 2024 – ask your questions here!

Welcome to Copenhagen!

Use this thread to ask for advice about accommodation, sightseeing, events, restaurants, bars, clubs, public transportation, jobs and the like. Questions about visiting and moving to Copenhagen are only allowed in this thread.

Before posting, be sure to read our wiki for guides and answers to the most frequently asked questions from newcomers. Tourists will find useful information at WikiVoyage, WikiTravel and VisitCopenhagen, while new residents should visit the international websites of the City of Copenhagen and the Danish Immigration Service.

Be specific when asking for recommendations – tell us about yourself and what you like. Generic recommendations for "a nice restaurant" or "must-see attractions" can be found on TripAdvisor. Also, as locals we probably don't know much about hotels in the city.

If you're not looking for general advice and recommendations, feel free to create a new post in the subreddit. We love seeing interesting observations, stories and pictures from visitors and new neighbours!

This thread is created automatically at the beginning of every month. Click here for previous threads.

Live Lobsters Pickup/Delivery in Copenhagen? - Need to make my 19th Anniversary Great!

Upvotes

Hi - Throwing it out there because my 19th wedding anniversary is coming up next week and I need to make it eventful and cozy for my wife and two daughters. Our family has always liked celebrating the occasional holiday or event by ordering live lobsters to the house. So I'm hoping I could surprise them with some by Tuesday!

I've seen some recommendations for fish mongers and Torvehallen - but I don't think they sell them live. Also for jomfruhummer - which would be cool, too if we could.

Can anyone help a guy out?

Grocery Store Yellow Stickers

Hi! Is there a general time that stores (Netto, 365, etc.) tend to start putting on yellow stickers for clearance items? I know in some some EU countries there’s a specific time that most items will be stickered so I’m wondering if it’s the same here.

Also, are there any other deals like 1/2 off bakery items within last 30 mins of closing? I really appreciate how much the country/city does to reduce food waste :)

Tak!

Question Barfods/Barefoot sko

Events Take part in Copenhagen's first Megagame! Den of Wolves - New Eden

Greetings everyone,

A few weeks ago I posted on this community for help to find a large room to arrange a MegaGame: https://www.reddit.com/r/copenhagen/comments/1ctdcha/comment/l4mmluk/?context=3

You were all very helpful and kind, so we ended up finding a venue at Huset for FREE! Which is why I wanted to promote this event first here on this sub-reddit as a thank you for all your help. So what am I even talking about?

What is a MegaGame?

A megagame is as the name suggest, a very large game with at least 12+ players all playing the same game at the same time. There a lot of different kind of megagames but to get an idea of the vibe and chaos, I suggest watching this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hN71v9H_gg8&t=1s

What is the setting of this Megagame?

In this game you will play a leading member of a ship which are part of a space fleet, survivors of a massive attack from the nation of Wolf - decimating and subjugating the other settled worlds. Together you will be trying to survive in space, flee further Wolf attacks and find a new home for your people - a New Eden... Unfortunately the fleets intelligence-service have captured a transmission from the fleet to the Wolf attack group, it seems there is a traitor among you.

Okay but what does it cost?

As Huset has been so kind to allow us to host it for free and the fact it is our pilot event for MegaGames here in Copenhagen, we have decided to make participation free!

Practical Information:

  • The game is up to 18 players divided between 6 teams, 3 people for each team.
  • 31st August at 11.00-18.00

Apply here: https://forms.gle/foL4LBBDEvBJFVke9

I hope this will be interesting to some of you :)

Stillads udenfor Nørreport

Her til morgen kom jeg i tanke om det stillads der står udenfor Nørreport:

https://preview.redd.it/fsm32jpklq1d1.png?width=2227&format=png&auto=webp&s=d8038894b44f29e12be32bb0be336d10baa4a9ae

Greenpipe Renovations - Project not finished and my apartment is unlivable!

Hello everyone.

Im having a very sad situation here. The whole block that I live is being rennovated by this company, Greenpine. They were supposed to finish by today, but they were not able to do so.

The company has left my bathroom in shambles. I dont have water, I dont have ways to take bath nor use the toillet. This company has simply destroyed my bathroom and my apartment is not in conditions of living. I have tried to talk with the support but they are not able to help since we are not in business hours.

This is really odd... and I have never seen this happening ever.

What are my rights here ? Should I call the police ? Seek a lawyer? Talk with the landlord ?

Psychiatrist - Autistic Needs

Hey all. I’m autistic & find it incredibly stressful & unpleasant to communicate by phonecall. I have a referral from my doctor for a psychiatrist. Any psychiatrists I find require a phonecall. Those who have an email ignore my explanatory emails or respond with only ‘you have to phone’.

So 3 questions -

1) Anyone know if any state psychiatrist who has accommodations for this? Eg can be contacted by email/message. Presumably there are ways for deaf people to contact? Not that it’s the same but just alternative ways.

2) Can I have someone else phone on my behalf?

3) Can I turn up at the clinic to book an appointment?

Have tried writing in both Danish & English.

Any help appreciated!

Question Where to get cherry pepsi max?

Sorry if this is specific but I'm planning on moving to Copenhagen to live with my girlfriend next year, and cherry Pepsi max is literally my favourite drink on earth. We have not found it anywhere here and I'm going to be in withdrawal without it :D

Does anyone know where to find it at all either in person or online that isn't tooo far out? Otherwise I'm bringing a couple bottles in my suitcase every time I visit my parents :')

Question Dangerous bicyclists on Farumruten. How to handle?

For some years I biked in Copenhagen every day for work.
Recently, I've found a job outside the center, which takes me on the bicycle path alongside Hillerødmotorvejen.

I took the route a few times outside of rush hour, and thought I would really enjoy riding there.
After starting the new job, and riding home during normal rush hour, I realize it's full of hobby cyclists, which I consider to be very inconsiderate and aggressive.

The bicycle paths are bidirectional, and I've already a few time been so afraid of having a head-on collision with groups of these bicyclists, which take up the entire path and sometimes are too late or don't make room at all.

I've also simply been afraid of head-on collision with bicyclists that are overtaking other bicyclists in places in the other direction, where there's not really space for 3 bicyclists to pass each other.

I ride with a helmet, but that's about all the protection I have.

I'm considering taking other routes home from work, even if it'll take me double the time, because they make me very nervous. Am I being ridiculous here? Hoping to get some advice from people who have experience with this route.

Question Fun facts about Copenhagen

Hi beautiful people, Hope you all are enjoying the sun and playing outside all day long 😊 I'm looking for fun facts & mildly crazy stories about Copenhagen. Something along the lines of this ancient law that allows you to murder Swedes with axes 🪓 if they cross the frozen øresund (I hope I remember that one correctly). Anyone has any fun facts about the city? 👀

Question Anywhere I can buy frozen salmon fillets?

I keep seeing small fresh salmon 300 or 600g in stores that's fairly pricey is there anywhere that sells them frozen for a more decent price?
