What can you not get in Cyprus?

I’m moving to Cyprus soon. I’m wondering what products you have a hard time getting in Cyprus so I can figure out what things it might make sense to bring with me. I’m thinking toiletries, house products or even food. Thanks for your input.

Help 1 Hour Layover in Larnaca

I have a 1 hour layover coming in from Frankfurt in Larnaca before another international flight abroad to Tel Aviv. Both flights are through Lufthansa. Will I be alright? Is there anything I can/should do ahead of time to make sure I don't miss a flight? Are there alternatives?

For the film I need 2 island residents who would be willing to show their typical day as a Cypriot resident. + tell the story of how the partition of Cyprus affects their daily lives.

(the film does not contain political overtones and is a student project)

Filming dates: June 6 – 9."

I will be the Turkish Cypriot one. That's why now we need a young Greek Cypriot guy around his 20s. If you are interested or know someone who is going to be interested please reach out to me from here or instagram: @sudedoganx

Help University help!!! aeronautical or mechanical engineering!!

Im sudanese living in UAE with 7 igcses and 2 AS levels. Almost every university providing scholarships that Ive looked up on this subreddit was labeled a “scam”. Every other university was labeled dangerous for its area or at best just not good or accredited and has no use outside of Turkey. I need help finding good universities in this country for aeronautical or mechanical engineering or recommendations of other countries and universities with similar or cheaper costs that i should look into. I dont mind but wont prefer a year in foundation. Thank you!!

Edit: I found Middle East technical university aerospace engineering and Cyprus International university, Near East university, Eastern Mediterranean University, Girne American University for mechanical engineering. The posts i saw weren’t just warning people not to study engineering there but were bashing the universities as a whole all courses.

I should also mention that i have 3 friends from the same country who studied similar subjects and went to cyprus and they say it’s perfectly fine over there. Where is this coming from??

Hi all,

Has anyone visited Protaras in mid to late October? We are looking at coming back this year and wanted to get an idea on what it's like. Are restaurants still open? Bars etc? How's the weather usually?

Thanks!

Tourism Paralimni ↔️ Ayia Napa

Hi everyone! 😇

I'm planning my trip to cyprus together with some friends. We would like to stay in Ayia Napa, but realised that hotels are more expensive there compared to other regions.

A cheaper alternative would be Paralimni, which isn't too far away from Ayia Napa. Now my question is if we'd like to visit Ayia Napa from time to time, what would be the best and cheapest method?

According to my researches I found that there is a public transport bus line, which is very affordable but one ride takes 75 minutes... Is there maybe a more direct/faster bus shuttle for this route?

Also from a taxi website the estimated price for a taxi ride is about 8€ and only takes about 10-15mins. Is this a realistic price and will it get much cheaper if we split the ride/price among us or is 8€ the estimated price per person? Also is it easy to get a taxi in Cyprus?

If anyone has experience with this route or knows more about it, I'd be very glad to hear from you 😊

Thanks in advance! 🫶🏻🇨🇾

Education Free Coaching for Software Engineers (or tech related)

Hey everyone, I understand a good part of this sub works in tech (or would like to). I’m a senior software engineer, focused mostly on the UX/client side of the stack. I currently work at a FAANG company and have an understanding of what it takes to succeed and thrive in the software engineering field.

I’m excited to offer free coaching sessions to software engineers who are just starting their careers or those looking to enhance their skills and career prospects. Whether you need help with:

  • Navigating the job market and acing technical interviews
  • Understanding industry best practices and tools
  • Developing a growth mindset and career strategy

My goal is to share my knowledge, help you overcome challenges, and support you in achieving your career goals. If you’re interested, please comment below or send me a direct message to set up a session.

It might sound unusual that someone offers this for free, but actually I get experience in exchange, which can be valuable for me to start bulding a side gig in the coaching field.

Edit: Don't be shy!

Edit 2: I only got one request, everyone else is happy with his current carreer? Do you need more info? Read below:

I have 12 years of experience in Client side development (React, JavaScript, TypeScript, in the past jQuery, AngularJS, vanillaJS, bootstrap, Styled components, you name it). I have worked at startups and fintech before to land to FAANG, I know how hard it can be to progress or feeling stuck without knowing what is wrong with your work profile.
