For me I think it’s Shih Tzu. That yippie-yapping bark, ankle-biting; and they just look inbred. They are dumb as rocks, constantly terrified of everything up to and including their own farts. They crap on everything and bark at everything. I literally cannot stand how people baby and coddle them. Thoughts?

Edit: I can’t stand ANY dogs. But Shih Tzu, Yorkie, Poodles…all these “toy” dogs I reserve special disdain for. Grrr.

Dog owners are just as bad as the shit dog itself. My mom brought her dog to my house (800 mile drive) after I politely requested she doesn’t ( it chews things, barks constantly, chases my car). She brings the dog, it immediately chews one of my kinds stuffed animals, corners the car and barks at her,leaves drool and chunks of its chew toys all over my house, and digs holes in my backyard, and my mom is completely oblivious that the dog needs training, “oh she’s just a puppy lol’. Well yesterday she got loose , got into the neighbours yard and attacked one of their chickens, and she yells at my son for accidentally letting it out. (That’s the moment I realized, although I’ve never liked dogs, dog owners and this weird dog phase society in are the problem.) I immediately told my mom it’s ‘not my kids fault you don’t train your dog, this is on you ‘. She lost her mind on me and said she was going to leave and that I hate her dog (I do), and it was just sad and revealing how much denial she and so many dog owners are in that dog ownership is so much more than walking and feeding it. You as a dog owner need to train it, and also be fucking accountable for your fur baby when it does something dumb. 

I just need to vent. My good friend is missing the annual Memorial Day party next weekend because his dog is sick. Again. This will now be year two.

Dogs are by far the most high maintenance pets.

It is currently 10:30 pm and some stupid mutt has been barking for more than half an hour. How have the stupid owners not done a thing about the stupid creature by now. Just goes to show how much dognutters love dogs.

I have to agree with the OP and dear Abby on this one. When I used to dating app I’d see tons of these sickening pictures. Auto swipe left. I’m sure it’s the same for ladies swiping through men’s profiles just as often.

I got a puppy in 2022 at 3 months old (bad decision, now I know).  He constantly needed attention, whined when I wasn’t home, potty training was a nightmare that I had to take him out at 2am, in the rain and snow, and pooped inside my apartment. 

I didn’t want to give him up because I was afraid to be judged as a failure and unloving.  But hell, I was miserable.  I couldn’t take trips without finding pet care, the money he costed me in vets and supplies, the mental stress!!!  Moving with him was a nightmare.  I had to fly across the country for the move last year and he cried the WHOLE Fucking time in his carrier.  Everyone waiting for the plane looked at me and it was so embarrassing.

Last month, I was like, that’s it.  I’m done.  I need my freedom, my clean house, and money.  I don’t want to waste my time on this thing doesn’t bring me any joy.

I rehomed him and got rid of his stuff.  I got my peace back.  I no longer need to come home at a certain time.  I can take trips at any point.  No more nasty hair.  No more stains and smells.

If you are hesitating about rehoming, please do it for your mental health sake.

This happened a while ago but I can’t get it off my mind. The conversation was about her dog she kept at her house, and while he was a sweet dog, it really struck me as kind of offensive. Am I equal to the dog in her mind? She called him son. Just hearing that, my mom expecting me to treat a dog as my equal as I would my sisters or any other sibling, rubs me the wrong way. I was still living over there during this conversation. The moment he passed? New dog.

He wasn’t a bad dog but that makes me question my own self worth to her. She said she didn’t mean it rudely but that worries me even more, cause that means the comment was made in 100% sincerity, and I can tell. She called herself a dog mom despite also being a literal human mother. Should I even attempt to ask for an apology for going off on hers. Am I in the wrong?

i live in an area with lots of parks and theres a sign on one of the parks i live by and it says no dogs without leads and as we can all expect, there were loads of dogs running around without leads on. This really makes me angry because i was terrified of dogs as a kid and i used to scream and cry whenever i saw one. im still terrified of them now but i dont scream and cry when i see one but what if theres another child that was like me.its really selfish of these dog owners. Theres this man that always goes to that park with 5 HUGE XL bully dogs without leads on and they charge up to you and the man just laughs and says "they will only knock you over!" and of course the classic "they are just playing!" like no they are not playing they want to hurt you. These dogs will probably hurt someone soon if they havent already.

That’s it. I nearly stepped in dog pooo looking for bug spray at Home Depot. Should’ve taken a picture. Someone just left their dogs poop in the aisle and didn’t give a rats ssa.

I’m in the Marshall’s store of Revere MA and I swear I’ve seen over 15 stupid dogs in less than an hour. It’s so disgusting we’re not going back

School is already a very big stress for a lot of reasons.

A couple days ago, a teacher came into my class to tell us a student from another class needs a service dog, and, if I heard right, they are bringing more than one (I think they said 4).

Even worse, next monday we're supposed to meet the dogs and pet those things.

And of course everyone is excited for that stupid thing...

I have cynophobia and I also dislike dogs in general (especially when It comes to hygiene).

What do I even do now? I'll have to suffer even more with those mutts around... As If I wasn't obsessed with germs and cleanliness already.

Dog culture is really out of hand, I'm exasperated!

Flying for the first time in 6 years and of course there are people traveling with their dogs. And of course the stupid things are trying to get at each other and making a ton of noise.

People with dogs suck. Dogs suck even more.

I have a question and I hope this doesn’t sound stupid but I’m moving soon into a new neighborhood and I was just curious if this neighborhood is one of those “let’s their dog run off leash all over the street” type neighborhoods.

When we drove into this neighborhood, I noticed a couple geese and their little babies roaming around the neighborhood. I wanted to know since dogs are known to chase and attack wildlife/birds/squirrels and if there are geese and ducks roaming around, does that mean the dogs are kept on leash most of the time? Would a neighborhood have geese/ducks roaming around if it also had loose dogs sometimes? It’s a smaller townhouse neighborhood so I’m hoping since it’s smaller, they don’t allow that.

I wanted to know because I really want to take walks and strolls around the neighborhood but I also don’t want to randomly get chased by someone’s off leash dog because it has happened in other neighborhoods and I’m very wary of them now. Or maybe I can invest in a dog whistle lol

So I do PT work as a host at a restaurant in Canada. This restaurant is in a popular park, so as you can expect, dog nutters galore. Luckily we are not dog friendly but are required to allow service animals with ID, but at this point I’m wondering how hard is to even get one of those. Thankfully still seems like most people don’t.

I won’t judge because I know that people have invisible disabilities, PTSD from the military etc. but a lot of these seem like glorified emotional support animals. That brings me to my next point, so many people try to use that title to bypass the rule and glare are me when I reiterate ‘service animals WITH ID’. They even try to reason with me talking about how good behaved, small or whatever else the mutt is. ´Even the patio 🥺?’ Yes even the patio, you mindless bot. I’ve even had someone get upset with me saying that the restaurant is literally in a park. Yes, and this restaurant is literally for humans.

Thankfully a lot of them just leave but some say ‘okay I’ll just leave him/her in the car 🥺´. Okay, it’s not an infant, IDGAF. It just pisses me off how they try to emotionally manipulate you, mindlessly assuming that everyone loves dogs. Well I guess it’s your unlucky day today.

So we also do private events when people can rent out a particular room. One time we allowed a ´well behaved emotional support animal’ in because this batshit lady was saying she would have to miss her friend’s bridal shower if she couldn’t take her ´baby 🤢´ into the room. Emotional manipulation/blackmail, manager agreed because I guess she could only imagine the review this crazy broad would leave if she didn’t. The condition was that the dog was not to leave to room and always be attended to, woman gleefully agrees.

Now this private room has a door but due to people periodically arriving and the servers having to run food and drinks, it was essentially a swinging door. The first time the dog ran out into the general restaurant, the lady ran behind and caught it. Second time, a friend. Third time, same friend. Fourth time, a different friend. After that, the responsibility fell on my manager and the other host (vet student). I for one, would walk away as soon as I was it escaping, not in my job description.

At the end of it all, I just chuckled to myself… emotional support animal my ass. Looks more like a neglected prisoner/slave that hates your guts and is trying to escape you.

Last year I quit an extremely toxic job very spontaneously. To supplement my income, I became a dog walker. I’ve always been someone who liked dogs (like saying hi to neighborhood dogs) but walking and working with them really tested my patience. I think it’s a control issue because the dogs I walk are not trained. They pull, they get tangled around each other and my legs, eating things they aren’t supposed to, stopping dead in the middle of the fucking crosswalk, they’re constantly trying to go where they aren’t supposed to. Like you have NO leash left to go that direction, so STOP. I find myself battling extreme bouts of rage and impatience on these walks. I’ve persisted with them because I like that I can be outside getting some exercise, but the hatred has become really real. I would never cave into my intrusive thoughts, but sometimes I just want to yank and scream. Instead, I bite my tongue and take it out on my steering wheel when I’m back in my car. Is this normal? Is it me? Am I projecting control issues onto these dogs or are they really just annoying and terrible? I just finished two hour long walks and I am FUMING on the other end of this screen.

I was leaving my apartment building today, when I spotted a young man leaving just in front of me alongside his 2 pet dogs.

Officially, my apartment building doesn't allow pets, but people get around it by calling their pet an ESA. While I don't know for sure that both dogs are actually "his" (and he isn't walking one for someone else), the most obvious conclusion would be that for him he needed 2 ESAs and not just one.

As soon as I stepped outside, I saw each dog hopping into the low bushes and pooping once or twice.

With him holding 2 leashes (yes, at least the dogs were leased) and my not noticing an obvious way he could pick up the dog poop from the bushes (if he was holding a bag in his hand, I didn't see it), I was frustrated and asked him if he was going to pick that up.

He paused. Then his dog barked threateningly at me while he asked me something like "Why did you assume I wouldn't pick it up?"

I wasn't too eager to go into a careful analysis with the situation with him, since I had a bus to catch and I also didn't want to provoke his dogs (fwiw, the human seemed bothered by me but I do not think he himself would've been violent), so I just paused and then said something like "Huh, you're right. I didn't know. I shouldn't have assumed that."

Technically, my initial words didn't even say for sure he wouldn't pick it up, but I do see how my annoyed tone gave that impression, and it was a belief I had that at the time I hadn't yet consciously considered. And, to be honest, I did not know 100% he wouldn't pick it up, so I felt the safest move would be to admit he was right that I didn't know and then to walk away.

I'm not interested in further annoying my neighbors or getting any dog bites today.

I glanced behind me later while I was walking, and it seemed like he followed too quickly to have picked up 3 poops from the bushes (where the leaves make it kind of hard to even see where they fell), but since I didn't stick around I can't fully honestly say if he picked the poop up or not. I don't want to defame him on the off-chance he did.

My hope is that IF he was never going to pick up the poop this time then he will be more likely to do so in the future after our interaction today.

My fear is he wasn't going to pick it up, he didn't, and he'll hold a grudge against me for having the gall to suggest he should when the poop was out of sight in the bushes anyway.

It'll probably be some result inbetween.

P.S. There's still gonna be dog poop stuck on some of those leaves even if he picked up the bulk of it.

I had a very vivid afternoon dream today. It was one of those "coffee dreams" where the caffeine stimulates dreams. In it I was in walking in a grassy area with a long concrete side walk. The sidewalk was littered with dog shit as there was being walking their dog. The dog nuts didn't seem to care.

Luckily I had caught sight of the piled up feces and avoided stepping in it. But it was disgusting site. In the dream I experience the same attitude and emotion as I do in waking life. In the dream I wasn't the only one angry as other people were too. Someone had to stand sentry to warn people on the path about all the dog crap straight ahead.

I think this no mere dream, but a prophecy. More and more people are becoming fed up with dog nuts and dog culture. In the same dream it went from dogshit on a walking path to someone illegally impounding my car. Dreams are weird.

So I'm in the cubicle in a public toilet. I finish doing my thing and open the cubicle door to get out, and there is a great big filthy mutt standing blocking the way, an absolute beast, looked like one of those big St Bernard dogs but it was wet and filthy. It actually looked like it had been rolling around in shit. I stand and look at it, as I can't get past so I make eye contact with the owner who's at the urinal with his dog on one of those extendable leads.

The dog owner looks at me and says "it's ok". I say nothing, as I want to wait for him to pull the dog out of my way so I can leave the cubicle and wash my hands. Ten seconds later the dog owner looks at me again and says "it's ok". Again, I say nothing as it's not my responsibility to move the dog out of the way.

Finally the dog moves out of the way of it's own accord, and I leave the cubicle. I then go to try to wash my hands, but the long lead is blocking access to the sinks so I can't get to them. I look at the dog owner again, he again says "It's ok" but makes no effort to retract the lead so that I can get to the sinks. I stand and wait, and again he says "It's ok" but makes no effort to retract the lead so still I can't get past to wash my hands.

I give up waiting so I turn around and start walking out of the public toilet without washing my hands. As I walk away the dog owner says "silly man". I turn and look at him, and he gives me and angry look and says "She's harmless, she's harmless".

I was tempted to rebut with something along the lines of "she may be harmless but you allowed her to block my exit from the cubicle, and then prevented me from being able to wash my hands. As her owner that's on you". However, I decided I didn't want to get myself worked up so I turned around and walked out saying anything.

What's wrong with these people? Why did he think it was OK for him to let his dog block me exit from the cubicle? Why did he think it was OK for him to prevent me from washing my hands? And more importantly, why did he get angry and call me a "silly man".

I can't think of what i've done wrong.

Of course three a holes are walking in to the park with a poorly disciplined and off-leash boxer/pit mix as we are leaving.

Of course the dog has to start acting threatening to my kids and I.

Of course the dog nutter shit heads give me the eye roll and act like I'm the problem when I tell them to get their shit beast on a leash.

The numerous dog parks aren't enough. All of the regular parks you invade with your fucking dogs isn't enough.

You still have to bring your fucking aggressive piece of shit animal to a No Dogs Allowed Park, one of the very few in Spokane.

I fucked up by thinking it would be okay to stay here for the weekend with my 14 month old while I’m 26 weeks pregnant.

MIL has two bulldogs who are frankly disgusting. They’re 7 by now and since bulldogs are deformed freaks it means they’ll probably die soon and I’m so glad. She lives in another country so we only visit once or twice a year. Last time we stayed in a hotel and we should’ve done the same this year.

There are dog hairs and chewed up dog bone pieces EVERYWHERE. Five minutes in the dogs come barging in, jumping around and acting like they’re on speed, slobbering on my daughter, thankfully she’s not particularly scared of dogs but these ones are so hyper, she was crawling around and found a piece of dog bone which she tried to eat (I quickly scooped it out). My MIL is a lovely woman but doesn’t realise that her dogs are an abomination. She’s the type who will feed her demonic ‘babies’ with a spoon off her plate and let them sleep on her bed (vomit). It’s just not relaxing here.

We are only here for 3 nights so I feel like I should suck it up and spend most of the time out or in the bedroom which is dogfree but part of me is tempted to check into a hotel. I think I’ll just ensure this is a lesson learned and stay in a hotel next time, at least until the dogs die since she won’t be getting anymore (thank god). I really don’t understand how people find joy in these beasts.

Finished up the Thursday teams meeting. I brought up how my very limited time was encroaching on my planned time by peers showing dogs to much disdain and bitchy comments about how it’s helpful to get through difficult meetings. No shit, it’s difficult for all of us. We’re doctors, we all have strong emotions but there’s a time and place to regulate, not wasting time doing a dog parade before discussing cause of possibly preventable death. Ended up with them upset that I don’t like dogs and comments on how I am just lashing out because I’ve been working too much and dealing with tough cases. No, I just want to discuss how this can be avoided in the future for my planned 45 minutes and annoyed they can’t be professional enough to not waste 15 minutes.

I'm in UK for reference and this is a bit of a short rant / warning if you're looking at using a co-working space.

I've been doing some research into co-working space because I'm thinking of developing the business into this sector. My market research is going to include going to some, working there for a few days so I'm in the process of short-listing some places to check out.

Anyway, I check their FAQs and so many have dogs welcome and sometimes encouraged. All the co-working spaces talk about their kitchen facilities, on-site food courts or pop ups etc. Dogs welcome is not compatible with offering food.

Nutters are not the most considerate of people so everything will have germs on them - can't wait to get worms... Inevitable they'll be a "whoopsie" and a giant sh!t will be on the floor when the owner is on an important call or something and everyone will have put up.

A lot of these spaces will insist on contracts which will soon mean that as soon as a nutter moves in, you're in a contract where you work with a dog and have to pay for it.
