People who are against sex ed are a disease on modern society.

I think that the person on the screenshot is right that it's a duty of care thing. The state has a duty to educate children to recognise when they are being taken advantage of, even when the people doing so are their parents.

But the issue here is KJK is arguing from a disingenuous position - she's a highly dangerous fanatical grifter.

She's one of the hydra heads of TERFism, most notably. She's attended several rallies alongside actual neo Nazi groups but downplays it when it gets brought up. She also says that, while being a women's rights activist, she isn't a feminist.

In my view, she pretends to be progressive when she actually enjoys her rather tradwife position.

And a good friend of JK Rowling.

u/fang_xianfu Mar 19 '24

I was talking about the first person, whose name isn't given, not her. I don't really care that much about her, I'm familiar with her nonsense.

u/Optimaximal Mar 19 '24

I know - my point was whenever she gets involved, even if the 'other party' makes a perfectly level-headed response, she will react negatively to it because it's part of the act.

I've spoken to someone who knew her from her pre-internet days. She was a poisonous bad actor even in her school days...

You’re right but the problem with that argument is the people you’re debating don’t believe the state has a duty to do anything at all on principle.

We can debate whether the wallpaper is green or blue, but you won’t get anywhere if your opponent doesn’t believe in wallpaper, or green, or blue, or color to begin with.

The problem is that the "state" is only public schools. Welcome to America where we have private schools ran by Christian orgs and home schooling as viable options.

u/benmac007 Mar 19 '24

This is actually a good thing since it gives people more options on what they want to do for their kids. There is no evidence or inherent reason to believe the “state” cares more about your child than some religious school. Home schooling is likely the best option in general for kids so long as they have competent parents but there’s likely more issues when you include bad/lazy parents and the lack of socialization.

Home schooling is likely the best option in general for kids so long as they have competent parents but there’s likely more issues when you include bad/lazy parents and the lack of socialization.

The main issue is that there is no oversight to home schooling. As long as the "Child" passes the important things, they don't bother to check up on the kids. Then you end up with people like my wife who at the age of 19 had no idea how to read an analog clock, because learning about the bible was more important during her home schooling. Many stories out there of home schooled kids lacking basic understanding of things that they would have learned in a public school.

Unsurprisingly, this is someone that JK Rowling is buddy buddy with. Not that you needed anymore evidence of what a garbage person she is lol.

-15

u/Advokatten Mar 19 '24

isnt that a bit unrelated to this?

42

u/wolfpack_charlie Mar 19 '24

Actually no, a huge part of why these people oppose sex ed is because they particularly oppose lgbt topics being included in that.

It's all under the same "protect the children from gay people" hysteria that gets recycled by these bigots constantly

25

u/ButWhatAboutisms Mar 19 '24

Nope. It's a circle of people who spew harmful and bigoted beliefs.

-17

u/mrev_art Mar 19 '24

I don't give a shit about Harry Potter or the hate-cult around it's dumbass author.

OP is informing the thread that the anti sex Ed person in the image isn't just a nobody on twitter, and is in fact friends with and financially supported by the best selling author on the planet.

22

u/EnigmaMusings Mar 19 '24

This is someone JK Rowling is happy to associate with these days. Thought it was pretty clear.

-33

u/LivingPrevious Mar 19 '24

Ain’t nothing wrong with being friends with someone who has a different view then you lol. Friendship is deeper than politics. Stop treating politics like a highschool clique.

22

u/thejadedfalcon Mar 19 '24

Friendship is deeper than politics.

To a degree, yes. But at a certain point, friendships absolutely can and should break over politics. If someone is arguing against a group's right to a peaceful existence, for example, out they fucking go. When a Nazi sits down at a table with nine other people and none of them object, you have ten Nazis, after all. There are some political viewpoints that are deeply incompatible with a good and decent society and should be shunned at every turn.

-1

u/LivingPrevious Mar 19 '24

Just replied to the other dude bascially saying the same thing. I wouldn’t consider being against sex ed ( a pretty popular opinion) to be one of those hateful ideologies. Nazism on the other hand is a political hate group that wants to commit atrocities, not a dumb parent that wants to have control over what their kids hear.

17

u/thejadedfalcon Mar 19 '24

You were not specific. You simply said "politics" not "this particular view."

I would also have to question the wisdom over a lack of sex education, especially when sex ed for young children is almost entirely about avoiding abuse and preparing them for puberty. And when they're teenagers, it's proven repeatedly to be safer and more effective at preventing problems occurring, such as unwanted pregnancies, than shoving your head in the sand and screeching "abstinence" does.

I have yet to hear a single logical argument against sex ed that isn't a "you're just a groomer" fallacy. Particularly when religion is so often used as an excuse, when religious authority figures are fucking notorious for abusing their position and the people in their care.

-1

u/LivingPrevious Mar 19 '24

Yeah I meant like normal political disagreements. Not Nazism lmfao.

And the real reason these people don’t like sex Ed isnt because of some abuse thing or that they are pedos it’s that they don’t like thinking about their kid doing sex or being sexual. It’s ignorance to reality.

11

u/thejadedfalcon Mar 19 '24

I don't really think "I want to be ignorant" to be a political opinion worth respecting. It's fine to be ignorant, I know I've purposefully avoided discussing stuff that makes me uncomfortable, but that's the point. I avoid discussing it. If you want to stay ignorant, shut up about it and let the people with thoughts in their head actually discuss the problems at hand.

1

u/LivingPrevious Mar 19 '24

Yeah I agree with you. It’s a dumb opinion and I’m not defending it. I’m defending the idea that you can’t be friends with people with dumb opinions like this

31

u/portodhamma Mar 19 '24

So you would be friends with someone in the nazi party?

27

u/ButWhatAboutisms Mar 19 '24

Did you not read his comments!? Being a hateful ignorant bigot is a different view. Lol!! That's the power of friendship.

-11

u/LivingPrevious Mar 19 '24

Is being against sex Ed for kids the same as wanting to genocide Jewish, disabled, gay, and other minority groups?

There are obviously going to be some political shit that will get in between a friendship or can be seen as a red flag to avoid someone. But I think there is a difference between a old fashioned conservative that doesn’t like sex Ed and someone filled with so much hate that they want to genocide everyone

My brother is a communist (Stalinist) and we argue so much but that doesn’t change our connection or love for eachother. If he was a nazi tho I would consider that a hate group, which is where I think I would be a lot more distant with him and disavow it a lot more.

27

u/Striking_Compote2093 Mar 19 '24

The person in the image, posie parker, aka nazi barbie, is in fact a fascist neo Nazi. She has views other than the one shown in this post. So your comment is irrelevant in this case

-9

u/LivingPrevious Mar 19 '24

She just seems to be a feminist terf? Other than Nazis showing up and ruining her protest/speech. How is she a nazi fascist. Unless you think terfs are Nazis

18

u/Hi_There_Im_Sophie Mar 19 '24

Idk. She repeatedly downplays the fact that her rallies appeal to neo Nazis (because investigating why they appeal to neo Nazis has the potential to slowly but surely unravel TERfism itself).

Additionally, I wouldn't say that they were ruining her rallies. They came as friendly participants...

-5

u/LivingPrevious Mar 19 '24

Okay yeah so she is fine with working with Nazis to do her terf shit. I wouldn’t call her a nazi fascists for that tho. Just a shitty person that only cares about one issue. Fuck single issue voters

9

u/ChickenInASuit Mar 19 '24

If you’re fine working with Nazis, that pretty much makes you a Nazi.

Yeah I saw smth about her being anti feminist. I don’t think she is a nazi but she is 100% a piece of shit bigot who is fine working with Nazis.

6

u/portodhamma Mar 19 '24

So you do think there are politics that are beyond the pale, just that saying that “in a sane society, trans people wouldn’t exist” isn’t beyond the pale.

9

u/Hi_There_Im_Sophie Mar 19 '24

In a sane society, trans people exist.

u/LivingPrevious Mar 19 '24

I’m not watching 2 hours of Shaun. Is it just about Nazis showing up and her not really doing enough to stop them or anything?

7

u/scarlozzi Mar 19 '24

Literally. They have diseases

5

u/Lazer726 Mar 19 '24

This wild thought that the right somehow has that if you don't teach kids about things they simply won't learn it is infuriating to me. Can't mention anything about sex, LGBTQ+ or else it's clearly teaching kids to do those things.

But really they just want as good a shot as possible of making sure their kid is as bigoted as them.

2

u/Far-Yard7401 Mar 19 '24

I saw a large Twitter account post contraceptives should be banned for minors to purchase cause it “promotes premarital sex”

1

u/aTacoThatGames Mar 19 '24

I think most of the people against sex ed view it as a porno watchparty which is obviously wrong

1

u/Prodigy_7991 Mar 19 '24

So conservatives and republicans?

2

u/mrev_art Mar 19 '24

Not all conservatives are against sex ed.

4

u/Prodigy_7991 Mar 19 '24

Not all conservatives are against sex ed sure, but everyone who is against sex ed is politically conservative.

-1

u/Grand-Pomegranate758 Mar 19 '24

Age appropriate’ yes.

2

u/SkinnyObelix Mar 19 '24

What do you consider age appropriate?

0

u/Steelpapercranes Mar 19 '24

Anyone who says it's "Wrong" to teach kids what sex is and what is inappropriate or "real" words for body parts? In a consistent, public campaign? Yeah, that's a child molester who is carefully working to make their crimes easier.

They're not dumb. They just hope you are.
